by a bigger company?

How big was the change in office atmosphere ? Did you notice more seriousness and politics after you were aquired?

Where you laidoff after being bought out?

Any other changes ?

I've been through a few buyouts. I've been lucky that the groups I work in are never touched. Layoffs are just a fact of life in takeovers. Things do change and most of the time, the little people get screwed. Upper management always makes out. The current atmosphere may not change right away but they may expect things done a certain way. It's defnitely a tense time while you're waiting for things to shake out.

It seems that we might be bought out and there are less than 25 people in the company so I just don't see who they can layoff.

I worked for a place that was baught out. They fired everyone but a few people. The ceo etc got to stay on with a huge paycheck. They let everyone else go. bah!

But that is ok. i was going to quit anyway. I ended up getting 2 months pay, $100 for each stock i owned in the company (they gave us stock as x-mas bonus!) wich i had 400 shares. If i had quit like i planned i would have got nothing! heh i was happy with how it worked out.

I worked at a radio station DJing for a couple years. We were bought out and then a week later everyone at the original station was fired. Pricks.

activities like accounting and finance are often axed as they are easily absorbed by the parent company. Depending on the product you sell and its similarity to the parent company's products, sales can be absorbed also.

Basically, if you evaluate the differences between your company and the parent, you can tell where the layoffs will be. In the meantime, make yourself important to corportate operations.

75% of our staff is Engineering. The other company does not have a similar product are not a competitor. You can say they are expanding in a newer field with us.

There are only couple sales people and couple support guys rest is engineering.

I've bought out several small companies and even medium ones. I keep a few top execs, to serve as man-servants, and I can the rest because if they were part of a copmany that got bought out I consider them losers, and send them all packing!!!

I was a part of a small company that sold for a real good sum of money. After the "acquisition" there was a lot of bitterness in the air, any changes in management were met with negativity, etc... Wasn't the best of experiences, especially when the rounds of layoffs were going around for the sake of outsourcing :| Needless to say, because of the terrible idea of outsourcing, tech support went down the tubes and they lost massive amounts of customers. Haha
