Have you ever witnessed a Dance Off?

I went to the portuguese festival in newark yesterday my buddy was djing in one of the tents. He plays dark tribal and iberican house.

in any case there was a metro there dancing like a maniac and he would challenge other metros to what can be best described as a dance off. They would skip around in circles and bust moves trying to out do the other guy. And amidst this they would taunt one another with these seemingly borderline homosexual pelvic thrusts and other things.

has anyone ever seen this and is this gay?

uhm, depends on the audience i guess. if there are plenty of women around and they seem to be enjoying it and egging them on with cheers, then i wouldn't call it entirely gay. And if the winner of the self-proclaimed 'dance-off' leaves with a model under each arm, then i'd call it fvcking manly as hell.

on the flip side, if they're just pelvic thrusting at each other and the nearest female is 100 ft away because that's where the restroom is -- then that's pretty damn gay.

Next time, tell your dj friend to immediately cut off the music to discourage any of this type of behavior. that is unless you enjoy bearing witness to male on male homosapian mating rituals... :curious;

I've seen a couple dance-off. This dude's ex-girlfriend showed up at a college party with this guy (2 weeks after the traumatic breakup) and started dancing a little too close with her new guy, almost as if she was trying to burn the dude. So this dude asked his good gal-pal (who happened to be hot) to dance with him. It erupted into this high-tension dance-off where everyone formed a circle on the floor and let the two bust some crazy moves. That story still goes around every once in a while.

P.S. I was 'the dude' :-( And no, I'm not putting up pics.

I'm glad you mentioned that.....thats exactly what I asked my friend. I was seriously thinking it was a mating ritual of some sort. It was way tooo sexual for it not to be. And no I didnt really see any impressive females around. Mostly dudes watching. Maybe its an NJguido.com thing. I dont knwo.

In response to your last question, it is a bit, as is any phrase containing the words "dark tribal and iberican house"

awsome game by the way.....

no DDR is a game with defined rules and a winner and loser. This was a bizare sped up riverdance with severe homosexual overtones.

LOL

the DDR addict - that deserves it's own thread.

You got these scrawny ass goth kids prancing around on a machine with their back turned to the screen, ego escalating exponentially with each addition of another scrawny ass goth kid to their audience. Then you got another scrawny ass goth kid in the audience with his skinny arms crossed, trying really hard to come off as unimpressed and nonchalant -- in actuality preparing for his own chance to prove his own worth, as if 4 quarters and 4 pressure sensitive directional pads could buy him that.

<to preempt the "you're just jealous you suck at it">

i actually don't 🙂 i had a great time with that game in taiwan when it was released some 6 years ago, played up to paranoia hardcore -- then realized that the average ddr player was taking the form of some overly chubby caucasian male, sweating profusely, stomping so loud the entire floor shook, balancing their own weight precariously on size 12 airwalks and a downloaded knowledge of each and every track.

now it seems like the prototypical player has shifted to the other, but no better, extreme of the SKG (skinny goth kid, toss pale and angsty in there for good measure).
