June 1998 with a 350 P2 and the Intel i740 graphics card originally. I upgraded to a 450 P2 and a V3-2000 some months later.
That was my last upgrade till I got my new system about 4 weeks ago.

I went from Pentium 166 to Athlon Thunderbird 1.2Ghz back in 2001.

I love that Pentium 166, it made all the minimum requirements for all the games:(

Would have kept it longer if I only knew how to fix the sound back then.

Just on mhz, you multiplied your clockspeed by 5.3x. I once went from a 486 50mhz to a Pentium II 400mhz, which an 8x increase. Still, how's that extra 1950mhz treatin' ya?

I've waited something like that long and the only reason I'm upgrading now is because my motherboard caps went kablowey :)

HA! I laugh at that upgrade. A few years back I went from

- 386@20 MHz
- 8 MB RAM (upgraded from the original 2MB)
- 200 MB HD (400 MB with that stupid compression crap in DOS)

to:
- PIII - 450 MHz
- 128 MB RAM
- 10 GB Hard disk

for those of you counting, that's a:
- 22.5x boost in CPU speed
- 16x boost in memory size
- 50x boost in Hard disk size.

my old system had yours beat by inches, and your newer system has mine beat, so I guess you had the bigger jump.

The longest I ever waited was 2 years for a upgrade on the CPU. That was from 1997 to 1999. After that it went all down hill. My motherboard upgrades are worse, most don't even last a year with me before being tossed or traded for a newer one.

P1 200 MHz -- 400@450 celeron
Celeron -- Athlon 750@893 MHz
Athlon -- TBird 1.2@1350 MHz
TBird -- AXP (1600+) 1.4@1.75 GHz
