You may think you got your shit all together right now.
But 5 years from now your going to look back and say to yourself, man, was I ever stupid to think that.
Then 5 years from then, you'll look back again and think, how could I of thought that was a good idea.

Death Penalty--Anti Death Penalty
Anti-Union--somewhere between Pro and neutral Union

About the only Political position that I have maintained over the decades is the need for Governments to operate without Deficits. Sometimes they are necessary, but when they are not they are about the worst thing a Government can do Fiscally.

Long ago I was against nuke power plants. Now I'm not.

IIRC, privatising SS sounded like a good idea initially. I'm totally opposed to it now.

I was initially opposed to the idea of going back to having state legislatures choosing US Senators, posters here have changed my mind.

I've been influenced quite a few times by posters here in P&N and changed my position/mind on an issue.

Growing up I would have been perfectly fine with illegal aliens.
I had to enter the work force and earn things to form a different opinion on that.

A fetus isn't just a sperm, or just an egg, every poster here was a "clump of cells". Used to be rabidly pro-choice, now I am still borderline, but only if the mothers life is in danger, or in the case of rape, or incest, other than that I believe in personal responsibility, if you can't take care of a child keep your legs closed, or your dick in your pants, if you can't than accept the responsibility of your irresponsibility.

The problem here, of course, is that this is totally irresponsible thinking. You have to be crazy to think the irresponsible are going to accept responsibility. Naturally, I wouldn't expect you to accept this.

I was a hardcore conservative when I grew up, through the end of high school and into early college. It was mainly paternal influence. My dad was hard right, particularly on foreign policy. In college I ended up going *way* left, and have subsequently moved to center-left. So if measursed as high school ---> present, I have changed views on loads of issues. As measured from when I first turned left until now, I have changed on a few issues. Gun control - I decided it could never be effective in the U.S. even if Constitutional, and that since I supported the rest of the Bill of Rights, I needed to be consistent and not try make excuses for why this wasn't a "right" like everything else in there. However, I still dislike guns and the entire idea of an "armed" populace.

I guess I can also say that I used to be more supportive of American military adventures, even in my days of being farther left than I am now. Ever since Iraq '03, however, I have become a lot more dovish.

Abortion, went from life to choice. (based on enormous waste of resources)
Religion, went from christian to agnostic. (based on enormous waste of resources)
Economic policy, ongoing change every time i learn more
Legalization, went from against to for it (based on enormous waste of resources)
International Policy - Rossevelt to full isolationist (based on enormous waste of resources)

Overall i have taken a more utilitarian approach to politics. It is, in my opinion the only way to truly reduce government waste.

Proof that LunarRay is an idiot :awe:

This is how I try to approach things these days. Instead of taking a moralistic approach to everything, support things that will accomplish your goals. Example, suppose I was strongly religious and I was very against abortion. The hard line moral approach would be to promote abstinence. Obviously that doesn't work, so the best way to accomplish my goal of reducing abortion would be to promote condom use. Even if I don't like the idea of people fucking (because vaginas are yucky!), I need to be realistic and admit that I can't stop people from doing that.

btw the spelling check in Google Chrome is horrible. It says vaginas is incorrect and it suggests using vagina's with an apostrophe. I'm so ma'd right n'ow I might start putting apostrophe's where they do'n't belong!'

Ummm.... ok... I'll change my opinion.... Druids are!... ():)

Pay no attention to that absolutist pecker head. You could hold the same opinion as the result of mild retardation. But I took as the obvious message that he plays a warrior himself, and you bruised his ego. He adopted defensive stance, put up a shield, and immediately went for agro.

It never occurred to me that someone from this forum other than me could possibly play WoW... and have a Warrior Tank or even know what that might be...

'Went for agro'... hehehehehehehehehe I've been bubbled since a long time ago... :D
