Have you ever sued someone?

I was a basketball game and some player decided to punch me. I just wanted to give him a cup of beer to help him relax but it didn't land right because he wasn't paying attention. :(

My parents used to rent out one of their houses for extra income (and on the chance that they'd want to move back to that house someday). This wasn't some sh!tty rental property...it was a 3000 sq-ft. house on 1/2 acre with a beautiful wooded lot. They charged $2200/mo. for rent. One year the renter suddenly lost his job and just stopped paying rent, so my parents started eviction proceedings, and then sued him in civil court to recover rent owed to them.

They won, and the district court is currently garnishing the guy's wages to recover our funds (roughly $10,000). They're still getting checks (this happened almost 3 years ago).

I have sued 2 people, being a landlord at one time, they missed rent and I evicted them. The other which is in process is for a PC that I built for them that they never fully paid for...what are friends( now ex) for...

I sued someone about 8 years ago because I bought a house from them and they had concealed a bunch of rotten wood in my garage. they told me it had all been redone, but in reality all he did was cover up the rotten wood with new drywall. They refused to fix it when I discovered it a week after buying it, so I sued them. Long story short, after almost a year and a half and paying the attorney about $5,000, we got about $15,000 back. It was the principle of the thing. I figure the whole thing cost them at least $20,000, but I bet they'll disclose everything they know about a house before they sell it next time.

I'm in the process of taking someone to small claims court. The reason is because I did a lot of work for them and never got paid.
