Does taking it apart and putting it back together in the proper order equal "solved"?
Most that solve it nowadays do it from following instructions already written out or are told how, thus a non accomplishment.

Solved it back when it came out early '80s. Same as the 4x4 Revenge in 1984. Current average is about a minute.
Nothing compared to those speedcubers <8 seconds or so.

<-- no user guide, hence poor average solved time compare to others.No and whenever I've tried I haven't even had a clue what to do. I end up just making random moves until I get bored, which usually takes around 20 seconds. I just assume that everyone who has solved one has used a guide, at least at some point. I'm not sure how one would go about solving it without using a guide at least once just to get an idea of how it's done.
Three or four sides(can't remember) was the best I got. I don't have the patience for them anymore.
