Have you ever sent an e-mail to the wrong person?

I intended to send this note to my golf partner and sent it to a player on the opposing team (Dennis' partner) by mistake.

"5.5 (points). That sucks. I have to say that Dennis is giving you a run for the leagues most annoying golfer. Golf should be a simple game. Take your practice swings while you're waiting and when it's your turn, step up to the ball and hit the freakin' thing. What was with the multiple 3/4 take backs? Geez.

Ooops, a little embarrassing.

I hate slow play in golf.

On one hole, I walked about 80 yards past Dennis, took a whiz, located my ball in the rough, and he still hadn't hit his ball yet.

It makes me want to quit the game.

I dont think so, but once I was making fun of a friend who was obsessed with Cate Archer (the character from NOLF) and meant to send an IM to my friend that was something along the lines of "Cate Archer makes me wet," but I sent it to my dad by mistake. :)

My favorite is when someone sent the wrong e-mail to me.

I was serving as the liaison between my company and a vendor that was developing our new database system. I'm can be anal with some of my requests, and they were just not doing things they way they should've, which resulted in a lot of phone conversations and e-mails.

So one day I send a mail to two of the programmers, Brad and Steven, regarding a few changes I wanted implemented.

Brad responds back, intending to send the e-mail to Steven, but sends it to me instead. The e-mail was sent March 2000, but I always kept it for a good laugh. It read as follows (exact copy/paste):

"Steven,

This guy is driving us nuts!!

Can you give me a status by tommorow of what has been implemented from my orginial worksheet to date . Basically what you were able to complete last
weekend- so I can related in other words to NYC and then to the client.

Also take a look at the lastest round of "thoughts" in the attachment below.  From my point of view I don't see any new items other than the PASSWORD ERROR notification request.  Don't know about that one being "over the top"  We've got to stand firm at some point.  I'd say now is the time.

Thanks

Brad"

I never did bother responding with a smartass comment, but I'm sure he knew he f'd up. :D

We once received a mail from a manager, who thought that a 14-lines sig is ok for an email. One of our Admins wrote a quite funny answer(reply to all) about RTFM and that we only need a 3-line sig in our emails. I just wanted to answer him, so I just pressed "Reply". I wrote something like: "Haha, typical manager LOL, I would also prefer a 3-line sig." 5 minutes later, a coworker came and asked me if I know what I just did. That email went to EVERYONE in our company, we had about 5000 workers. The admin told me than that he changed the "Reply-To" from admin@company.com to everyone@company.com, cuz he thought anyone else who wants to contribute to the discussion, should write to all. I forgot to check the "To" field. Luckily, I was still in my apprenticeship and it had no consequences ;)
