Have you ever seen the same product being sold at different prices in different places at the same store?

(not just talking about old price tag that hadn't been updated)

I was shopping at Walmart yesterday, and needed about 10 tubes of JB Weld Water Putty. I remembered seeing it back in the automotive department, but there were only about 4 tubes there, so I went over to the hardware section, and found about 6 more tubes. When I went to check out, I noticed that some were ringing up as $7.24, and others were ringing up at $6.54. I mentioned to the cashier, "Aren't these all exactly the same? Why are some ringing up at a higher price?" They were nice enough to ring them all up at the lower price.

I double checked the package, and the only thing slightly different is the UPC code number. Size and everything else is EXACTLY the same. I walked back to both sections, and they do indeed have them listed at different prices at the same store.

So basically, Walmart is selling the exact same product in two different parts of the store, with one place being marked a little more than 10% higher. Have you folks noticed the same thing elsewhere?

Yes, same exact product, but different item number/upc code. Usually the older product has a lower item # (inactive/clearance), never product higher item# (current).

I constantly see postings for deals on lump charcoal at stores like Home Depot, Walmart that I never get in the Philly burbs.

Same with meat prices. I'm a smoker.

I've seen that with the impulse buys. The candy at the checkout counters is more expensive than in the aisles. The cold soda/beer is more expensive than the ones in the aisles.

A while back memory cards were like that at best buy. They were cheaper in the camera section than the phone section.
