Have you ever seen someone brandish a gun?

Excluding in a gun range and excluding official demonstrations or military exercises, have you ever seen someone brandish a gun? What was the context/circumstance?

Nope. I've seen people looting and rioting but never brandishing a gun. I hope to never see either one of those in my future.

Yes, years ago when I was a teenager. I was stupid, we went to a tourist spot and threw some waters balloons at tourists. Some old ass man pulled a gun on us. I think it was a 1911 pointed right at me. A girlfriend of mine came running out of the establishment and pretty much said "what the fuck are you doing, they're kids."

Not me but my two brothers did. Some guy was behind them, they were stopped legit but the guy honks. 16 year old passenger gives him the bird, and waves it around for good measure. They pulled into where they were going in about a block and the dude follows them in there and pulls a gun. They were scared shitless. One said it was a revolver, the other an automatic :p

Yep one guy I used to know did it all the time. Dude is dead now, thought it would be a good idea to have a shootout with the cops...

Context/circumstances? It was a Tuesday or 2:43 PM or some other random shit like that.

Couple occasions. First time was at a pawn shop and I walked into a drug deal gone bad. I managed to make the guy drop his gun (the pawn shop biker dude owner). Second time was with a mafia family who will remain nameless.

BTW. I'll be traveling to Shitcago. If I don't post you'll know I'm 6 feet under.

Yup, some dude getting off of the freeway pointed one at me. We were both in our cars, I still gave him the finger since he was driving like a fucking idiot.

Don't pull out a gun unless you are ready and willing to use it.

Both of mine are military related, but not 'exercises'.

Once we were evacuating a small town down south in the middle of the night. Knocked on a door and was greeted with a shotgun in the face and a very grumpy old man who didn't want to leave. Can't say I blame him under the circumstances, but still..not a fun time.

On a completely different occasion, much to my dismay I've also had to pull a gun with intent to use. Fortunately I didn't have to.

I've had friends who joke around with guns, and I don't find it funny. Most people shouldn't be allowed to carry them, because they are idiots.

Yeah, a friend of mine had beef with this guy over a girl. The other dude had this big ass brother that was known to beat people down really bad. The brother was like 6'5", 300lbs, and in his mid 20's while we were 17-18. He was looking to beat up my friend because his little brother couldn't do it. My friend just knew he couldn't take him, and didn't want to take the beating, so he got his hands on a shotgun. He kept it with him everywhere for like a week. Then everyone knew he had the shotgun so the big ass brother was looking for a gun. It was like some Boyz in the Hood shit. lol Anyways, the kid brother just diffused everything by telling his brother to back off. Funny thing was the girl wasn't even pretty, just average.

Yes. I used to know a pretty...bad crowd of people. Saw several people get shot, a few stabbings, saw one guy choke his wife to death in front of a group of "friends" for screwing someone else...while he was off screwing some other bimbo.

I've even had a few pistols and shotguns pointed directly at me at various times...fortunately, no one fired.

(I've also been shot at many, many times in combat...some from pretty close range...but that's not the subject of this thread.)

If by brandish, you mean in a threatening manner? On many occasions. If the FD gets called to emergency scenes with the police, there's no telling what you may encounter.

Directly at myself? Only once while I was walking my retired police dog named Snuffy outside next to my condo. For some reason, the psycho male downstairs neighbor decided to come outside and point a pistol at me at around 9:00pm at night, in a well lighted public area between his fenced in patio and the pool. As soon as he recognized me, he quickly shoved his gun in his waist band. I informed him it was a good thing my German Shepard Snuffy had her back to him taking a dump, otherwise she would have most likely seen him as a threat and taken his hand off around the wrist. He laughed uncomfortably like he thought I was making it all up and apologized. The next thing you know, she had run back over to me, then saw the gun in his waistband, and went over to him and sat down on her back feet in front of him and stared him in the eye waiting for him to make a move. There was a distinct look of fear in his eyes as he stood there motionless until I told her to follow me back inside. After that incident, he never came back out to harass us when I took her outside.

I saw a police officer holding a gun on a vagrant while she waited for backup just outside of a train station.

Long ago when I used to do bad stuff (on which I decline to elaborate further) I had guns "brandished" at me a few times including once by the police.

Did you tell him that he could brandish your "gun" if he put his down? Now that's thinking under pressure!!!!!

Yes. Crossing a street with a couple friends to go into a bar. Some kids in a car got upset that they had to slow down for us as we crossed in front of them. Words were exchanged and the driver flashed a gun. I kept walking because I wanted beer and didn't want to get shot. My two friends stopped to continue the dispute and ended up grabbing the gun from the kids hand. Gun wasn't loaded and was given back after a stern lecture.

Both of those guys I knew are dead now because they continued making poor decisions later in life. One from suicide, the other from drunk driving.

Not sure if this is "brandishing" Many years ago in college. The guy in the apartment had been there for a couple months and I never talked to him. One day he was drunk in the afternoon and started telling me that his girlfriend broke up with him. Suddenly he says. "Hey I have not shown you Frank have I? Do you want to see Frank?" He went into his bedroom and I thought he would come out with some type of animal. He came out with a .45 and started to show it to me. I said, "your not the type of guy who gets depressed and drunk and starts shooting strangers are you?" Then got the fuck out of there.
