Have you ever run from the cops?

I haven't, but I'm curious :)

A guy at my friend's work supposedly had a nitrous kit installed in his car, and he would always get away from the cops by blasting away from them at full throttle. He had some sort of a switch that lowered his license plate (some older cars have flippable plates, my friend's '86 camaro does). He finally got caught for drinking and driving; he was too sloshed to get away so he just pulled over and lost his license for a year.

I knew a guy at a place I worked last summer with a trans-am who was going 240km/h or 140mph on the highway, and cops tried to pull him over. He didn't pull over and the cops chased him until he ran out of gas. I think he told me he went to jail for 6 months and lost his license for 2 years for doing that.

If they don't hit the lights, it's not "giving pursuit" ;)

On foot though? I've left some keg parties in a hurry before. :p

Not that I'm proud of it, or suggest it to anyone, but I have a few times. All three were on motorcycles and I clearly had the cops outrun, even without being overly dangerous so avoiding the ticket was worth the risk.

Just high-school. Was jaywalking, cop starts up his siren for like 2 seconds and I knew I was in for crap. Was next to school in the residential area so I hopped a fence into a backyard, and hopped their back fence back into the school yard. Hit the library for half an hour talking to buddies and walked home without my jacket on.

Those guys at work you know, Ultima? I wish they lost their licenses for good. Sorry if anyone disagrees with me, but fvck you. Those people shouldn't be on the road.

meh.. in today's society I don't really think you should take anyone's license away for good unless they're simply unfit to drive or they maimed/killed somebody. Now in the transam guy's case, I think he also drove an 18-wheeler into a convenience store once (before the transam incident) so I dunno.

I ran from the rent-a-cops at college once. Apparently they don't like people walking around with open containers.

What were they gonna do, shine me with their flashlights? :p

I have avoided running into cops that caught me with their radar gun: I was driving down the road the other day and going 70 kmph in a 50 kmph zone and I saw cops and one had his radar gun out so I turned at the corner half a block from them and drove home a different way.

Yup, once on foot from a party that got out of hands. Once with a motorcycle, I was driving without a helmet which is not allowed where I live. They didn't follow me to the woods with their car??? :D

No, because even though you might be able to outrun a cop, its pretty damn hard to outrun a radio.

1967 I was stationed at Fort MacArthur, CA. I just got promoted to Sgt. E-5. Went out to celebrate with a buddy in Long Beach (navy town). Well, we hit a few bars and got pretty smashed. Walked out of the last bar, got into the car (my '64 GTO) and took off for the base. I saw lights blinking in my mirrors and realized I was being pulled over by the Shore Patrol. Not good. We being Army and they being Navy.

I dropped it into 2nd and floored it, opening up all three carbs. I got far enough ahead to make some turns and thought I had lost them. Unfortunately, I turned down a street that was under construction. The pavement ended and there was a 2 foot drop into dirt for as farr as I could see. I hit the binders and gave it up. When you're cornered you might as well admit it.

Little did I realize how much of a commotion I had caused. Within seconds 6 LAPD squad cars and 3 shore patrol units pulled up behind me.

Can you say BUSTED!

After spending time in the Navy brig and then the Army stockade, I was busted to private E-2 and fined severely.
