I have never bought one but I have been upgraded :) It just doesn't seem worth the price for me. What do they really get that is so much better??

bigger seat
free drinks
board earlier
Sitting in the front of the Plane
people walking by them in jealousy

It probably is worth it on long trips.

I heard British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines and Cathway have the best first class :)

Better food too. Not worth it unless you will be up in the air for a VERY long time. In my case it was a flight from Hond Kong to NYC with a transfer in Tokyo. Ahh the days of PanAM.

I prefer business class.

I did Bahrain -> Frankfurt (stayed in Frankfurt for a couple of days)

and then FRA -> DFW

great flight but then again, the airline is in a class above everyone. Lufthansa!

I remember a Detroit to Tokyo 14 hour flight. I felt sorry for those people in economy. Thie middle row of the plane was 6 seats wide. The government was nice enough to buy us first class tickets. When you get on board and are greeted with a champagne and orange juice drink, you know its going to be a good flight.

my company always buys first class, it's nice...but i wouldn't spend my own money on it.

i tried to wash my penis with the hot towel, but the stewardess pinched my pee-pee with the tongs when i pulled it out. :D

Nope, I've been on First Class from SFO to Dayton, Ohio when I was like 6 or something. But I can't remember a lot of it. I could see why if you were an alcoholic or if it was a long flight.

Nope, on my dime it's coach all the way, somehow I can't justify many times the cost for that small benefit.

Probably safer part of the plane maybe.

I distinctly remember that one crash a few years back where nearly everyone in first class survived AND nearly everyone sitting elsewhere died.

Somehow I imagine that would be total chance, just can't see you paying more to actually live in the case of accident.

hmm, the front of the plane is closer to the impact, but the fuel is near the center of the plane (wings). Good chance to die in either case.

LOL

Acutally, Emirates has the best firstclass AFAIK. Swissair and Singapore Airlines are a close second.

You know, I was on this plane once.
And I'm sittin' there and the captain
comes on and is like "we'll be cruising
at 35,000 feet," and does his thing,
then he puts the mike down but forgets
to turn it off. Then he says "man,
all I want right now is a blow-job and
a cup of coffee." So the stewardess
goes runnin' up towards the cock-pit
to tell him the mike's still on, and
this guy in the back of the plane goes
"don't forget the coffee!"

If you want to be safe, sit in the last row of the plance, safest place you could find. The most dangerous part is the front (cough cough)

Someone was argued that the front (firstclass) was the safest area of the plane. Opinions do vary widely. Although over-wing may be stronger due to the wing spar, it also places you directly above the fuel tanks. The FDR and CVR (flight data recorder & cockpit voice recorder) are normally located in the tail of the aircraft, leading some to believe this may be the "safest" area.

No two accidents are the same; the pitch and roll angles of impact, the speed of impact, amount of fuel on board and condition of the aircraft prior to impact are just a few of the factors affecting "survivability" of an accident. But, even during the worst year in aviation history, flying was, and still is, the SAFEST mode of transportation.
