The first "personal" TV I had in my room was B&W probably sometime around 1984-1985.

It was pretty small even for then (probably about 10" -12" screen), and I think my parents must have picked it up at a garage sale for very cheap since we didn't have much money.

I used put my cover over it so my parents thought I was asleep, so I could stay up late and watch WWF matches that were on after my bedtime. I just had to know what kind of shit Roddy Roddy Piper was up to that particular week.

I never have, and I'm 58. I don't recall my parents even having a B&W TV either. Color became pretty common in the 1960's.

Yep, I found one in a dumpster in 1990. I kept it for a couple months but found it to be annoying so I put it on the curb. Someone took it.

Never did myself. Even my grandparents had a colour one since before I was born, a big wooden RCA. It just kept working but they replaced it when they got a flatscreen for a Christmas present. I never asked what they did with it after, I kind of hope they kept it, that thing was a classic. Probably need 4 people to move it though lol.

I didn't, but my family did until the mid 70s. (I was born in 67).

I remember being shocked at the colors of Star Trek and Brady Bunch when we got our color TV.

My parents had a 20" B/W TV and a new colour TV back in 1974.

I got stuck with the B/W set in the basement but it was fine because I could watch what I wanted to not what my parents wanted to.

It was gone around 1976.

used to have a 13" black and white in the 80s

it was the "atari TV", but sometimes someone would watch TV on it if the big one was in use

one night when i was 6 there was a big storm and i was using that little TV to try to find the weather

instead i found a terrifying horror movie, several scenes of which are etched on my brain forever

a guy killing a bunch of people... a guy dying in a grain bin...

I remember when my parents first got a colour TV, in the early '80s, I think? (For that matter, I can remember, just about, when we first got a TV at all).

In fact the last TV I had (up till about 20 years ago, around the time the internet seemed to take away most of the purpose of having one) was B&W (because the licence was cheaper! The main expense of a TV now is the licence, rather than the 'hardware'...the BBC may be unsustainable for that reason...funny thing really that the BBC came into existence in the first place because the radio-manufacturers needed someone to produce content so they could sell radios - now it's the content that costs you, the hardware is a minor part of the cost).

Pity I can't get the internet in Black & White and save some money on that.

46 and yep. Looked like the one Captante posted and I believe we got it for free with a window A/C purchase. It was my bedroom tv and I had it up till around 10-12 years old when I got a color 13 incher for x-mas.

Yes, late 60s, colored TV was too expensive for the family. Had to wiggle/rotate the antenna sometimes to get a good signal. No remote, had to rotate the knob to change channels.
Watched the Apollo 11 Moon landing live IIRC.

Similar looking model, not sure brand it was.

My initial answer was "no" but then I realized that in the early to mid 80's I used my paper route money to buy a little pocket TV - it was B&W

I’m 62 so same here.

Parents bought large B&W consoles from the BX wherever we were stationed during Dad’s Air Force career.

I vividly remember the last one we had, a huge Magnavox piece with a record player on one side, & an AM/FM radio on the other. Big hidden speakers on each side. That was my first encounter with a remote control. It only did channel up and down & volume but it made a weird sound… like it was shooting an air charge! 🤣
