Have you ever noticed how some of the most famous observations are some of the most intuitive?

Not only profound, but wrong. The planet Earth is spheroid (which is quite a bit different from "round"). Depending on your definition of "world", the world may or may not be spheroid as well.

Isn't the Earth an oblate spheroid?

the earth can be flat, round, steeply inclined, and an oblate spheroid, depending on how you slice the earth surface into
quadrants of variable size. depends on the terrain. overall, while oblately spherical, you can zoom in and out to find
almost any surface shape you want, which on a particularist level proves the flat earthers have a point, albeit a very
tiny one.
