Have you ever modified your car to the extent that you're afraid to drive it?

I was just talking to a friend of mine who just had about $3500 in audio/video equipment installed in his Benz SUV. Now though, he's likely only going to take the Benz to places where he doesn't have to street park it unattended for fear of having his equipment jacked.

I also know people that put on 18"+ rims on their car, or a body kit, and then drive like old folk, since there's potholes galore in NYC.

While I've done mods to my car, I've never done anything to the extent that I'd be more concerned about my car being stolen or that I'd have to worry about every single pothole I come across.

Almost nothing I've done is externally accessible (struts/springs/clutch/flywheel/intake/exhaust)..so the only steal-able bit would be the stereo, which isn't incredibly impressive..I have factory 14" alloys..etc.

Fun > looks. 😛

My old car, an '83 Mustang, was loud enough that I always feared getting pulled over and having the police notice the catalytic converters had been removed.

Yeah, sometimes I feel odd leaving my car places but hey, you can't live your life in fear. Insurance is there for a reason.

i just put on a set of 18" wheels on my car...and yes, i do go slower over bumps...but thats a small price to pay for the far improved handling. car feels more spirited...not to mention looks better

oh currently, i have 1 wheel lock / wheel. planning on getting another set

What car?

19 inch forged 3 piece rims, 30 profile in the back, 30 in the front... Cost as much as your friends system.
Milltek exhaust, HKS bov, DG short shifter, Samco Intake hose.
Edit:I just dont speed as much as i used to. And go slow if i know there are bumps/pot holes

Audi TT Roadster

Edit2: I wont be driving it next year because i'll be going to UCLA. I dont want to parallel park and I dont want to leave my car in the school parking lots.

But are you afraid to drive it? That hardly answers the question.

heh. Find the thread on my car swimming down one of the main drags in Baton Rouge. It'll end up costing me around $700 b/c I had a CAI on it w/ no bypass valve. I had planned to change the headers and make some other mods, but now I'm not. I'm going to give the dealer my stock intake and ask them to slap it back on.

I have a stock '02 Z28 that I don't like leaving in any parking lots for any length of time.

Sometimes I feel like those people who have clear vinyl seat covers for their couch.

dropped my car 2inches and slapped on a body kit. I was plowing snow for the county goverment. NO speedbumps, no driveways, no potholes.
