I have a similar problem with two files on one of my drives. I get no errors, but the copy process just locks up partway through. I tend to think it's an hdd problem of some sort, but the file plays fine.

I'm going to guess it is an illegal file name. I don't know how the files get to be named with illegal characters, but I have had it happen to me. Obviously I didn't create the files with the illegal names. Windows won't let you. There are things that can be done at the system level that a user cannot, I guess. What will happen is that Windows won't copy the file because it won't create the illegal file name. You could try renaming the file, but I don't know if Windows will allow that either.

For instance files are not supposed to have names with ?,*, or \, and a lot of characters that can't be typed.

But don't forget to check the disk for file errors.

A while ago I had a lot of mp3s that wouldn't copy over the network, although they would from one part of the HD to another. Other files in the same directory would copy fine and the names of the files looked OK to me. I tried it several times, so it wasn't a fluke. And it was the exact same files that would not copy. If I changed the name, they would copy. More recently I tried copying the whole lot over the network again. No problem. Jeez Windows is fun!
