I haven't met anyone famous, but I didn't get to talk to a famous person online a few days ago... Wes Borland
A friend of mine went to a limp bizkit concert and had backstage passes and got to meet the band. With the knowing fact that Wes Borland was my idol he picked up his E-mail address and AOL IM screen name for mewhile jibber jabbering with the band and gave it to me as an early christmas present (damn good present if you ask me).. I don't think that any other present is gonna be able to top that one.

If you have met/talked to a famous person before... who was it?

Where they nice to you?
(Wes was awesomely nice, really ironic)

Uh oh, sounds like a stalker in the making. ;)

Nope, can't say I've ever met anyone famous. I'd think I would have somewhere along the line. I guess I met Gretchen Carlson once, Ms. America 1989. She lives in Minnesota.

Jesse Ventura lives about a country mile away from my parents. I used to drive past his hobby farm every day on the way to school. I had the chance to meet him a few weeks ago at a Independent party fund raiser, but I missed it.

I've been lucky to meet some famous people (mainly because I live in a film making town (Vancouver, BC, Canada):

I once meet Sammo Hung in HK, had dim sum & he can over to my table because he knew one of my friends (who lives in Hong Kong).

I went to dinner with Jackie Chan (and the cast & crew of Rumble in the Bronx) when he was in Vancouver (he was kinda distracted because he was paying all of his attention to Anita Mui).

I talk to Arnold (at the Bay department store) when he was in town. A lot shorter than I imagined (5' 11) but a real nice guy.

I talked to Susan Sarandon when she was vacationing in Whistler last summer. Her son was attending a hockey camp. Real nice down to earth lady.

I was once an extra on the X-file. Didn't really meet anyone famous but Scully is really short (5-0).

I saw Salma Hyack (sp?) at the MAC store in the Bay but I didn't have to guts to talk to her. Man she is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet :D

I hope to meet Jessica Alba (of Dark Angel) but no luck so far.

Cheers,
Aquaman

I met Bob and Elizebeth Dole in an elevator at the Marriott in Washington D.C. Being only 15 or so, I ran onto the elevator, didn't recognize them at first, then when I did gasped and said, "Oh man! You're Bob Dole! How cool is this?" He laughed, I shook both their hands, then talked with him for awhile about the state of our country's military (I'd just written a 15 page term paper and was thus informed enough to sound smart). I talked about how the country needed more people with true patriotism and loyalty and all that good stuff.

Senator Dole was impressed with me and told me this, "If you our country had more young people like you, Matt, we would be a much better place. I'm glad we met." We then parted ways, I ran back to my room and told my parents the whole deal and they almost crapped their pants. It was pretty sweet.

I have met George Lucas, James Cameron, Colin Powell, Babyface, various Nobel Prize winners and quite a few other celebrities... and I have the pictures to prove it! Only got to talk to James Cameron for any period of time, but I was too stupid/nervous/forgetful to get a picture with him and an autograph.

Bill Clinton met my Math/Science teacher in 6th grade when he came to Long Beach in 96 I think. He had his foot on my seat because he was seating on the top of the desk on the side of me and he rested his feet on my seat. Thats the closest I've "met" someone so far.

Never really met anyone famous, but Greg Iles (author) lives not far from me and he graduated from my high school (obviously long before I was attending).

I got to say hello to Molly Shannon of SNL fame during this past summer. She was walking outside Central Park with her headphones on. I didn't have paper or anything so I wasn't able to get an autograph :frown: It was a pretty cool encounter!

BTW, Martha Stewart graduated from the high school im attending right now (Nutley High). She's in the old yearbooks in the library.

Marvin Haggler (Most Boxing fans know who he is) was a good friend of my mother and aunt. When I was born he autographed a picture for me wishing me a happy life (something along those lines). Never met him myself but it's still cool.

I met Tony Dow (Wally) and Jerry Mathers (The Beaver) from Leave it to Beaver once. Former Laker player Kurt Rambis was a high school friend of my brother and used to spend the night at our house, of course that was well before he was a Laker. I also met Jeff Gordon at a race when he was a teenager, again, before he was famous.

I met Yoko Ono in Central Park in 1988; me and my mom were taking a stroll. Turns out she was a real bitch, my mom did get a picture of her. She was walking with a friend near the Dakota. (That's the name of the apartment building she shared with John, she still lives there to this day).

I've had my share of runins with celebreties / well known people. Lets see,

- I played B-ball with Shaq and Chris Jackson (as he was called back then) when they were at LSU.

- I met the Pope ... that was awesome -- the man just had an aura around him.

- Had dinner with the band Air Supply... they were nice guys.

- Briefly met Lars and James from Metallica when my friend won some backstage passes from a radio contest.

- Met the Queen of the Netherlands (Beatrix) one time when my mom received a medal of honor for public service from her.

Think that about covers it :)

Ummm...my dad has met a bunch, personally I have met two.

Henry Winkler (the fonz) when he did a speech at Syracuse University. Afterwards there was desert so I shook his hand and said hello.

Dolph Schayes, he was a great NBA basketball player in the 1950s. I saw him in a lil restaurant. I was there with a family friend (heh, the family friend knows EVERYONE and their cousin, he is also 72 years older than me) and he was talking to him and introduced me. Very nice man!

I think there are others...I forget.

The only one I can remember is Kevin Costner. It was in the summer of the early 90's I think. I was on my boat (Desolation Sound area on the BC coast for those who care ;)) with my parents, and we stopped in a fairly popular spot to go swim in a nearby lake. When we'd hiked up to the lake one of my Dad's friends started making fun of this guy who was wearing big huge Dock Martin's (looked like clown shoes), ripped up pants, and an old shirt that said BUM on it (this was around when B.U.M. Equipment was first becoming popular). After a few taunts, the guy turns around and mutters something...

Then, all I could hear from my dad's friend was something along the lines of:

"Sorry Mr. Costner sir..."

:p

I guess if you don't mean "personally met" but rather "were in close proximity to", then I'd have to include former president Ronald Reagan (he was the commencement speaker at my graduation ceremonies for my Bachelors), and former president George Bush who spoke at my grad school. The security folks would not let anyone even close to either one though.....

I have a picture of me at age 5 with the actor who played "Jaws" in the Bond flicks, Richard Kiel? I think? Can't remember his name :(:Q:confused:

Anyway - I come up to his kneecap in the picture! :D

My dad sat across from the Rolling Stones on a London to NY flight years back - talked to Mick a bit and said he was pretty nice.

My mom grew up in Liverpool when the Beatles were just kids at the local place. My aunt hung out with them a bit, and my mom went on a double date with thier manager (she was dating the other guy).
