I've met a handful of celebrities. They're not very exciting.

One of my relatives is in "the showbiz" so I've met some of their celebrity friends.

Also, my wife is a banker and has spoken to Tom Hanks, Michael Jordan and Jay Leno over the phone.

I work with someone who has a wikipedia article...

Oh and when I was ~4 I guess I met one of the New York Giants at the grand opening of one of my parents' stores, but I don't remember who

Edit: And my dad used to take me and my brother to Phillies auctions at the Vet where they auctioned off memorabilia for an ALS charity. For $5 you could get an autograph from any of the Phillies, so I "met" some then. I also got bored and accidentally bid an auction up to $2000 when my dad was not in his seat. (You had to pay to get one of those number-on-a-stick things to bid, and you had to have one of those things to sit in the bidding section, so my dad had to buy one for each of us so we could sit with him. I zoned out and was apparently waving the thing for a while before my brother realized it and yanked it out of my hand)

Also, Pat Dapuzzo (former NHL linesman) always gave me pucks between periods at Devils games. (early 90s)

I met Tears for Fears back in the day. My half-sister was a backup singer for them in the 80s. Barely remember meeting them though, seemed like cool guys from what I remember.

Technically my cousin is "famous." He was in the background of Balls of Fury and has been in a couple bit parts on TV shows recently.

Closest I've gotten is politicians.

Most were on the campaign trail in NH. Only one I got to actually talk to for more than a couple words was Wesley Clark.
In case you've never heard of him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Clark
I think I still have the candy bar, sign, and button I got at it.

Also talked to the NH governor, John Lynch.

Nobody else though

I used to rent cars to this guy a few times a year. He's been in a ton of movies. He was always a nice guy. Very good customer...not full of himself like most celebs.

My wife and I used to walk up and down these famous steps in Santa Monica on the weekends and we ran into this guy with his kids a couple times.

All the time. They are no different than anyone else... and most of the time, aren't very nice at all.

So far, I've met the following semi-famous people:

Penn Gillette (saw his show in Vegas, talked to him after the show)
Robert Irving (the Dinner: Impossible guy, got his autograph at a food and wine show)
Bobby Flay (got him to sign a copy of his book at the same food and wine show)

Penn Gillette and Robert Irving were pretty cool, but you could tell that Bobby was having a bad day. He just wanted to get the hell out of there.

Bobby Flay is a douche. Why FoodNetwork keeps putting this guy on TV is beyond me. He's not entertaining at all.

Absolute worst: Michael Johnson - met him at a USA T&F meet. No signatures, just a body guard who went everywhere he did and kept the fans away from him. Year 2001

Charles Barkley - Signed my shoe box in the Nike store in Portland while he and his smokin hot wife were shopping. This was 1992.

Phil Knight - very nice, low key guy.

Morris Day - Low key and appreciated his fans. We caught him about half hour after the show in the hotel hallway with his "young thang" for the evening.

Yeah, somewhere around that age...this was back in the early 1990 right after my wife and I were married.

Where's the fucking money Lebowski?

(tried to think of another reference to work in, but I'm tired, this will have to do)
