Have you ever met/seen any living legends?

Just got out of a John Cleese / Eric Idle show, and am still a bit in awe of having gotten to witness comedy genius in the flesh.

Other bits of history I've crossed in my life include shaking hands with Neal Armstrong and being picked up (literally; I was three) by Dave Brubeck.

How about you guys? There have to be some more exciting stories out there.

Does "The Hoff" count? Checked David Hasselhoff into a hotel room once. He was actually a very nice guy. If he doesn't how about Queen Elizabeth? She stayed in said hotel too. She said hello and shook my manager's hand - I just kind of stayed out of the way. Such a weird overnight visit - they emptied out the entire hotel for she and Prince Phillip.

Today I chatted with DMC from Run-DMC fame and Adrian Paul from Highlander. Those guys were nice and approachable. I also saw Kato Kaelin who was a complete loudmouthed, "look-at-me" douche bag. I had no desire to talk to him. Looks like I missed Mike Tyson and Stan Lee.

I remember once eating at a Japanese restaurant in SF when Robin Williams walked past my table and sat nearby with his family. I remember thinking that he was one hairy dude. Hair covered most of his face and he would probably look like Bigfoot if he didn't shave.

I talked to Pete Rose for a while. Not the brightest bulb, but he did sign a baseball for my son and took pics.

I met Gary Coleman. You could sense the bitterness and anger from that guy. He was not a happy man.

George Takei was pretty cool and obliged me with a pic.

I won a contest to tour Coors Field and meet the Rookies back in circa '95. I have a baseball bat and ball that bears Joe Girardi's signature whom I met. He now is the manager for the New York Yankees.

Tried to shake hands with a legend once but I ended up putting my arm through the mirror and it smashed all over me. Needed like 62 stitches.

I've met Ozzy, 2 Live Crew, and James LaBrie from Dream Theater. I went to an Irish Heritage concert in DC in May and was in the front row about 10 feet from Vice President Biden. He looked at me several times because I was right there. I had a cold and almost died from holding in a massive coughing fit while he was giving a speech.

When I was at the Xbox 360 launch event, Elijah Wood was there to help Peter Jackson promote King Kong. I won a VIP package to the party and he was in the VIP section playing King Kong just sitting on a chair with some chick. He was a dick and didn't even want to take pictures with anyone at all. And in real life he is about the size of a hobbit for real. He looked like he weighed about 80lbs soaking wet.

(I didn't take this one)

Once saw Jerry Springer on the streets of NYC. Robin Williams visited our building to film a local ad/benefit and was hanging out on our floor--he was outside my door and I barely recognized him. This was less than a year before he died.

Friend of mine once saw Bob Vila naked at a popular northeastern resort. (friend was working there as a highschool summer assistant) :D

Saw Mike Meyers do a "secret show" after a normal 2nd City set many years ago (in town for Oprah promoting Shrek 2, I think). He was joined on stage by a criminally unfunny Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith were in the crowd watching. Mike Meyers was awesome by the way.

I've never understood how people who are famous millionaires can be jerks. You've got one job: make the fans happy. I forgot my encounter with Drew and Brittany Brees. I was on a Southwest flight and this really hot woman came on with some kids and sat one row in front and across the aisle from me. I knew she looked familiar, but I couldn't place her face. The pilot came on saying that we would be delayed while one last passenger got on. I guess I said "Just leave his ass" a little too loudly because she turned around and kind of sneered at me. Then Drew walked on the plane. Oops.

I met Colin Powell at a body shop, fall of 1999, all by himself, no detail.
Guess he wasn't that big of a deal yet.

Met Scotty Bowman 9 years ago in Branson Missouri at a Disney store in an outlet mall there. Ex wife could not pass up a Disney store anywhere so was just hanging out there when in walks Scotty and his wife. I was staring at him thinking no way and he looks up and sees me looking at him and walks right over and introduces himself shakes my hand and we started talking about where I was from just small talk. A really nice guy to be truthful. Nothing like he was portrayed as a coach.

I suppose this might count:
I hung out at Corey Taylor's house (Slipknot & Stone Sour singer) on New Years one time. He was playing a show with DumFux at a local bar we frequented and invited everyone in the bar over to his place (probably 30 or so people by the end of the night). He seemed to be a very down to earth person. My friends and I were big fans and in star shock the entire time lol.

another time, most likely not "legends" per se, but one time some friends and I went to KC to see a band, and for one reason or another the show had been cancelled. We went wandering around town on foot hitting various bars. We run into these guys on a street corner and they are asking if we know where some place is good to eat. We explain that we are don't know we are from out of town looking for a place too. We all decide to go into this bar & grill near us and they invite us to eat with them. Turned out while talking to them they are the band Bango Tango. A band many of us probably don't remember from the 80's. I think they had like 1 hit during their heyday. They were still very much doing their thing, very friendly and funny dudes.

I met Bruce Campbell once but it was at a horror convention so not sure it counts but it was up there on my list because he is awesome. He seemed like a pretty nice guy.

I've met John Matuszak, Philippe Cousteau and Kenny Rogers. Seen Kenny Stabler in a casino and Hal Holbrook in an airport (two weeks ago).

Warren Zevon. The mirror on my big van smashed his mirror when I was driving down a tight alley behind the venue. I replaced it myself and they put me on the guest list for that night's show.
