I have. When I was younger my friend and I used to use piles of snow heaped up from our father's snow clearing in our driveways. We'd burrow and dig. We'd make rooms, and generally frolick in the winter playground of Canada. Oh those were the times.

I used to make lemon snowcones, except without lemons, just yellow snow.

We'd build snow forts on opposite sides of a field and throw snowballs at each other from inside. Then eventually one team would "storm the fort" by running up to it and destroying it by jumping on it. Then one day some idiot poured water on his fort. Kicking a rock hard block of ice hurts when your toes are numb.

Yes, one time Birmingham had 16 inches of snow and I made several snow forts. Too bad it iced over in the next few days and then crumbled.

All the time, when it would snow really hard I would make a huge pile of snow and make tunnels in it. Other times I would use one of those block makers and build up huge forts :D

For Boy Scouts, we made snow caves and then slept in them. Why did I do that? I dunno...

I look back and think to myself, "winter camping is the stupidest thing I EVER did!"

Not only did we make snow forts growing up in the Okanagan, we made snow horses, dogs, reindeer, the usual snowman/woman. Also we had a really long driveway, and we would tie the dogs to the toboggan and my mom would call the dogs from the house and they would pull my sister and me down the driveway! Oh yeah in the parking lots did anyone ever go for a bumper ski ride? I did and my mom caught me, boy did I get into trouble! So much fun!:D

There used to be a field across from us. The neighbor used to take the camper shell off of his truck for the winter and place is on 4 X 4 lumber in the corner of that lot. When it started snowing we would tunnel down to it. We then took a piece of plywood and piled snow on it to cover the entrance. We then stockpiled snowballs. When a car came by we pelted it with snow balls, went under the shell and pulled the plywood over the opening. We never got caught. All the cars could see was a field of snow.
Ah, the good old days. :D

couple years ago when we had 4 feet over night here in NY, i jumped off the roof of the house and then made tunnels around in it, and we made some cool forts in our front yard, and we threw snowballs at everyone that walked by....i live 7 miles from town...didn't hit anyone but mom dad and brother.. but it was FUN, and made 1 one time and i drove my honda civic right thru it, it was fun. i miss those days, but now i snowboard, so it makes up for it...ME WANT TO SNOWBOARD NOW!

I never made a "fort" per say, but I did steal a bread baking pan (a nice deep, wide tin kinda thing) when I was at a friend's house when I was younger. We made LOADS of these bread loaf sized blocks of snow, used a hair-drier to slightly melt the outside of the block to harden it, and piled them all up to make an igloo. :) It was only big enough for us to get into, but we left port holes open to throw snow balls out at anyone who came close. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that it would be hard to wind up and throw a snowball without smacking eachother in the back of the head or something in the process. We should have made it bigger, but we still had fun. :)

I grew up in MI, so of course snow forts were a popular winter pastime. We also used to make hockey rinks in backyards by building a "retaining wall" of packed snow all the way around the perimeter of the backyard and then flooding it repeatedly with water. That was a blast.

Yes! I don't remember how we used to get them built when I was a kid I just remember playing in it. A couple years ago we had a good snowfall, and I made an igloo out of blocks of snow for my kids. They thought it was pretty neat :)
