Have you ever lost a mobile phone, if so how many times has this occurred?

I?ve lost a total of 5 mobile phones throughout the entire time I?ve been using mobile phones, and this is by far the most inconvenient instance! I couldn?t give a crap about the phone itself, but without it, it severely cripples my ability to work efficiently.

I suffered incredibly today. Instead of looking up my contacts through the mobile phone's address book, I had to keep accessing Outlook and searching through the contact details in the global address list.

The thing that worries me most, is the amount of high profile contact details that are stored in the phone?s address book. Unfortunately when I lost the phone it had full battery, so if anyone has picked it up they will have full access to my phone for quite a while. The phone and sim have already been blocked, but that doesn?t negate the fact the phone?s contact details may have been compromised. I need a phone that asks for a damn pin number before it unlocks the keypad!

I?ve got four days off (long weekend), so that should be enough time for me to acquire a new company mobile phone.

:( SIGH!!!!!!!!!!

I should really be extra careful with my phone. Yesterday I went out for few beers after finishing for the day, but I didn?t get into such a state that I?d be destined to lose my phone.

I just don?t get how the phone fell out of the inside pocket of my suit jacket. Unless I perhaps left it on the table, but I?m not that inane.

Personally, never. (knocks on wood) Last fall, I found a fanny pack in Yosemite that had (among several other things) someone's cell phone. I took the number and called his voice mail, and left him a message telling him which ranger station I turned it into, and also took the time to look up his home number, and left a voice mail there as well.
Got a call several days later thanking me for going to so much trouble to make sure he could get it back...

i lost my phone about 2 weeks ago, and luckily someone tried to activate it (i reported it stolen thank god!) and verizon told them they now have the guy who took its phone # said he had to bring it to a verizon store or they would come take it from him. turned out to be some kid who got scared and gave it back to verizon. but only AFTER deleting all my contacts, datebook entries, pictures, videos, etc. it was a RAZR v3m btw. Damn that kid. I totally would kick his ass if i found him. I would have paid him $200 (so he can go buy his own RAZR) not to delete all that stuff.

I've lost 2, but both ended up at the bottom of the lake, so I wasn't too worried about them being compromised.

Luckily zero so far. I do worry about the compromise of personal information if I ever do... but I'm guessing that 99.99% of the time a thief would rather just wipe it and sell it, rather than try to sell a handful of personal data or launch some kind of intensive social engineering attack against me.

Use a corded land line. I promise you, you'll never lose it. :p

It's possible you could find it by calling it before cancelling service. If you are lucky, some bar tender or otherwise will have it, answer it, and return it to you. Or if you are REALLY lucky, your couch will start ringing.

I already tried ringing the phone multiple times, but it just keeps ringing without answer.

I've never lost one. And all of them made me type in a pin to access anything when it was locked. I'm surprized people would have a business phone that allows access like that.

Lost mine once. I think I left it on top of my car and drove away. I got some dirty looks from the boss on that one.
Extremely embarassing if you ask me.

When I worked on the water, we were always dropping our company radios into the bay/ocean...not intentionally, (or that I'll admit to) but occasionally, when climbing from a boat onto a barge, sh*t happens...and sploosh...there goes a $1500. 2-way FM radio...The last job, (richmond-san rafael bridge) I'd bet the crews lost over 100 radios and at LEAST that many company cell phones over the 3+ years the job went on...
