I have never lied on my resume and needless to say it looks kinda lame when compared to others who graduated with me.

I am sure many people do.

I have seen people get hired that claim to have a cert in something
but they don't know a damn thing about it....did they lie or are they just idiots

most likely both

It's very stoopid to lie on your resume. There is always the chance that you would be found out, plus it's a lie. The basis your employment would be sham. I knew a lady once who got fired because she was found out. Not a very pretty scene. Doesn't make sense to lie on a resume.

I remember some people with me in school got hired at IBM by overstating their qualifications. I get pissed when I see people do that. Its not fair to thousands of other well qualified people who are unemployed. Thankfully I never was unemployed so there was no jealousy factor.

It's fine to exaggerate a little bit to polish up your resume, but making tall tales or flat out lying is INCREDIBLY easy to spot when you stare at 50-100 resumes a day.

I had the following submitted:

- "Singlehandedly saved the company from failure" "Increased profitability by 50%" "Created new organizational system to enhance production." all from the same resume. She was a fricking SECRETARY.

- From a recent high school grad: "Office Manager at Company XYZ for 3 years." Right, you were an office manager RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL with no continuing education. Not.

Those are just a couple. I'll have to dig through this resume pile again to see what else there is.

Be sure to include names and addresses so we know not to hire them ;)

I pulled weeds out of the beet fields on the farm for years, but according to my resume, I'm a "weed control specialist" ;)

I used to work at a warehouse-type place packing stuff in boxes and shrink-wrapping them for a little while after high school. My title? "Production Assistant". Vague enough, isn't it? :D

I have...just about some experience I've had. I really did know my stuff, but I felt like this little fib would sweeten my chances of getting hired. Besides, I'm friends with my old manager who covered for me.

I've never lied on my resume. It's pretty outrageous the way it is.

hehehe, Singlehandedly eh, did her boss ask her to wash her hand afterwards?
also, increased pro fit-ability by 50%? Bill must have picked the right cigar.
Then, created new orgasm system to enhance pro-suction too.

Where's the exageration again?
