Have you ever heard any bands that were great on album, but sucked live?

I saw Areosmith back in the 70's ( right after Toys in the Attic , their BEST IMO) and they SUCKED.
Well, compared to ZZ Top they did at any rate. (They opened for ZZ)

Dave Matthews Band. My wife loves concerts and is a huge DMB fan, so we went a couple years ago. They were all so stoned out of their minds that the show completely sucked. We actually left early, something she had never done before. Lots of people were calling up the local radio station that sponsored the show to complain about how lame it was. Very disappointing.

I saw Aerosmith after either Permanent Vacation or Pump came out (I can't remember which)....GnR was the opening act. Aerosmith put on a good show and GnR was decent (Axl's ego hadn't matured)


I didn't like Candlebox live when I saw them. KISS was f'ing amazing as was Pink Floyd. The Allman Brothers were pretty good but even I get tired of a song after 20 minutes of dueling guitar solos.

Edit: Some more.....Metallica's show was absolutely mindblowing (...Justice tour). Tool and the Deftones put on a good show as well. Ani DiFranco's shows are somewhat more subdued than most shows I went to but it was good.

I was pretty disappointed with Rusted Root when I saw them live.
George Thoroughgood does a "good" show except it's very scripted, so if you see another show....it's the same.

incubus sucked live. linkin park sucked live. THE FLAMING LIPS IS THE WORST GROUP IN THE FVCKING PLANET LIVE. DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE. pod sucked live. hoobastank for the most part sucked, but i really dig the guitarist. did i mention how BAD flaming lips are live?

Must've been a bad show. Generally they're very good in concert, if you like their music.

Maroon 5 sounds great on Songs about Jane, but saw them on Saturday Night Live and on Leno and they sounded terrible...

anyway, looks like I get to see them live tomorrow since the wife wants to see them and john mayer....

There is a big difference between actually seeing them live and listening to a live recording. It sounds totally different when you're actually there. They opened at a concert a few years ago and they actually sounded comparable to on their cds.

Third Eye Blind SUCKS ASS live. I saw them at a show and was appalled. I'd rather listen to Ahhhnold sing the ABC's over and over again.

I was impressed with New Found Glory and The Offspring. They were great live!
