Have you ever had to switch banks due to moving?

Because there wasn't a branch for your old bank close to home?

Was it easy or a pain? Did you like your new bank more or less than your old one?

I had to when I moved to college, didn't really have much trouble doing so. I liked my new bank for a while until they started charging me fees for things that used to be free, so I switched again.

It's real easy. Cashier check from 1 bank to the 2nd bank.

A bit more complicated these days with online banking, but not that big of a deal.

I had a local, small-town bank growing up and during college, but had to switch to a different one after graduation. It was fairly painless, plus I liked the new bank better due to more features.

I switched away from BofA when I moved to Alaska many years ago. They don't have any branches here. Now I am with an Alaskan bank, called Northrim.

My new bank is very refreshing; if you wait in line for more than 5 minutes, then you get $5. I've actually never waited for more than 2. They're friendly, quick, knowedgable, and have common sense unlike the bureaucratic attitude at BofA. Plus I like my money staying to help the local Alaskan economy instead of going to the Lower 48. My checking is interest-bearing, with NO monthly fee, NO per check charge, and I even get reimbursed on ATM fees from other banks. It's a sweet deal.

Switching banks was easy... I had both accounts open concurrently until all activity on the old account had died out; then I closed it and said "good riddance".

I go through USAA. I think they only have banks in San Antonio but out of the 5 years I've been with them I've never needed to go to a B&M for any reason. They have awesome customor service and no crazy fees.

I switched from a regional bank (midwest) to BoA when I went to school in Houston. I just went to my old bank, told them I had to move my money and it was nothing against them, I just wanted it to be more available at school, and they gave me a cashier's check for everything I had, I went over to BoA and opened an account with it. The whole process took maybe two hours.
