Have you ever had to RMA an item back to Newegg?

I bought a lot of parts from Newegg 2 weeks ago. Come to find that a motherboard I bought was DOA. This is the first time this has ever happened to me on an internet sale. So, I go to Newegg's site and the RMA process is pretty painless. I thought that Internet sales was pretty much the only way to go but after this experience I'm not sure. I "saved" $20 by buying from Newegg. Now I have to pay to ship this thing back (about $12) plus I lose 2 weeks use of my system ... what a savings.

On another note, when you return ship back to Newegg do you use ins plus delivery confirmation OR do you use registered to get someone to sign for it? Thanks ...

I've RMAed two things. It wasn't all that quick, but I was happy with it. You do have to ship it back, and for something large like a dual AMD motherboard, it can be like $15 for USPS ground.

I did use insurance, but not delivery confirmation.

I had to RMA a motherboard a year and a half ago.

Had to pay for shipping but they overnighted me a replacement before I even sent out the broken one.

Thumbs up for them!

How did you get them to overnight another board? Now they state that they will only send a replacement via Fedex super save AFTER they have received the old board! You are talking 2-4 days to get there (it's the holidays), 2-3 days to turn the RMA around and then 2-3 days back and those are business days. I could be looking at almost 2 weeks downtime just because of a DOA motherboard! Anyone else have any idea as to how long this process takes?

Well, it was a year and a half ago.. I keep hearing how everyone is saying Newegg is getting worse and worse..

But when I did it back then the guy on the phone said he was sorry and would send the new one out right a way..

Bought lots of stuff from Newegg, only once had to send a mobo back. I filled out the RMA online, then called and asked for a cross ship. They charged my CC for another one and sent it out, then credited me when they got the RMA, painless. This was about a year ago.

For anything important, don't send USPS!! Use UPS or Fedex instead. The benefits, insurance is automatically included and you get real time tracking and they have to sign when it shows up. I absolutely dispise the fact that I can't get real time tracking with USPS. All they can tell you is if the package made it to the destination or not. What happens if it never makes it? Then you go to the PO and inquire, "uh, nope, never made it and we don't know where it is."

When you look at the cost difference, I think UPS is more than worth it.

Or, just place a new order!

Who is? Let's hunt them down and string 'em up!! The only "bad" thing I can think of is the fact that they now ship from at least two warehouses. Which means I get my stuff in three days instead of two, but that is still excellent for many online places, and that's using basic shipping!!

3 mobos and 1 hard drive.

The first was an ECS, then an Epox, and finally a Soltek.

The HDD was a WD.
