i've been IV sedated once to reset a broken arm. i think i counted one number before i was out.

i've had both, and the contrast for the MRI was nothing like the burning shit for the CT.

When I was 14 to set a bone: I remember struggling to say 5 before I passed out
2 years ago: Didn't count, but it was a huge rush of mellowness.

Waking up both times was a great feeling :D

Yeh, I had a CT and I felt like my veins were on fire...and like I had just pissed myself...and I wanted to vomit. It wasn't pleasant.

Started from 100 and got to 96......a few hours later I woke up to 95 all spaced out.

I recall reaching 7 when I was having my femur operated on. When I woke I immediately had to vomit.

Oh yes.
That was weird to say the least. Kind of burned.

Though my MRI sucked for all sorts of reasons. Such as everyone in the whole chain of care making sure I'm not claustrophobic. And none of them mentioned that I had to have a GIANT NEEDLE shoved into my shoulder socket. Did I mention I'm terrified of needles?

Then I took a nap in the MRI machine.

I think when I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed they started me at 100. Think I got to 96 before I was effed up and quickly after that dont remember a thing.

Hell, I had surgery two weeks ago on my knee and didn't even make it out of the prep room before I was out. I remember the somewhat cold fluid in my veins and that's about all.

I do however, remember that I briefly woke as they were moving me from my bed to the operating table and the doc telling me to use my hands to slide over. But I don't remember being wheeled there or anything else.

Ditto. Hernia surgery in 1988. Woke up.. then was so tired, i drifted back to sleep and was so uber comfortable and happy.

Never done recreational drugs but I imagine this is what the buzz off them feels like.

I went under almost immediately when I had my molars removed, I counted only one or two numbers.

The only time I've ever been put to sleep was when I inhaled a carrot into my lung. I don't remember much since I was really young. I've had a BB removed from my arm and my wisdom teeth removed but both times I was awake but numbed.

They told me to go back from 100. I hit 82 I think it was.

My spleen was ruptured in a car accident last summer. We were hit by a drunk and the seatbelt no doubt saved my life but also just about killed me.

I had 6 CTs over the next 2 months. 3 in one 24 hour period. I got pretty used to feeling like I was pissing myself. The initial CT, however, I was in so much pain they loaded me up with Dilaudid I was good to go.

I was also only mildly sedated when they went in through my right femoral artery to repair my spleen. It was the most uncomfortable 2-3 hours of my life as I had to repeatedly holy my breath as they were placing the metal screws (to help clot) and burning some of the remaining blood vessels. The definite worst part was when that old stork of a nurse shaved my balls and then laughed at me because it both tickled and hurt my spleen more than anything I've ever experienced.

When I had my FIVE wisdom teeth taken out, I was telling the Dr. I donated blood all the time and it was no big de.......zzzzzzz. Edit: I should add that I had a reaction to the anesthesia and woke up puking. It was horrible. I couldn't keep anything down and was too weak to even walk for about 5 days after.

I remember thinking how ugly the room was with the 60's green and yellow. Then I remember being transfered to the recovery bed. And some time later hearing someone trying to talk to me constantly. I guess it was a loud person in the recovery room and I told them I did not care who left, but it better get quiet really soon. Then I woke up about 5 days later and got lots of morphine :)

About the puking/vomit for some people... isn't that why they tell you not to eat anything 12 hours prior?

I didn't plan on having a CT the day I had mine. Stupid kidney stones had a plan of their own.

Odd. My contrast MRI felt like ice. It didn't help that the room was like 60F either. They preemptively gave me a blanket when I started the IV too.

CT contrast agent is mostly iodine. MRI uses something different. It's the iodine that causes the warming sensation.

Most adults will not have an answer to this question. The stuff we give you in the pre-op holding area (versed) produces amnesia from that point onwards. This results in you not remembering even entering the OR even if you were semi-alert and trying to hit on the nurses.

Kids typically don't get versed unless they are particularly nervous.
