I've never in my life met a single person I knew for sure had spent even a night in jail.

Yes, friends.

One friend got busted with assault weapons and 10 sheets of acid and 2 pounds of pot.

He was gone for awhile.

Other was for DUI's

Another was for meth.

Another again was for meth, then died from OD about 2 months after getting out.

Don't talk or deal with any of them anymore.

yes, a couple. one for vehicular manslaughter (while under the influence of alcohol) and another for small armed robbery.

I wouldn't call him a friend, but I used to know a guy in high school who did. Looking through the list of registered sex offenders for my area, I was surprized to see him on it. Small world.

No friends, though my old herbswoman was busted with a pound or so of illegal fungi and did a few months. My father (who I've only met a few times) did 5 years or so, not sure for what.

Not that I know of, but I've known some people that could (some should) have been there...

Mostly it's for:
-Growing, err, illegal plants (only a few though, just for friends, not for resale in schools or somethings)
-Stealing other people's plants, though it's not illegal (the guy can't legally sue you for this)

All this was the same guy: (A high school "friend" (not very close, but I hung out with him sometimes), he died from cancer at 25 2-3 years ago)
-Was charged for "touching" the youngest brother (aroung 10 years old, IIRC) of a girl he knew. She later admited to have planted the story, but the doubt was still there. See next point.
-He threatened and sometimes hit his girlfriend, who had cystic fibrosis :disgust: RIP Melanie.
-Stealing/robbery/burglary and selling stolen stuff
-DUI

Seem a bad guy, but I'd say he was only a part-time asshole.

Well, a few years back I had a friend-of-a-friend that got sent to "juvie" for breaking into a kindergarten (he's not a particularly bright fellow).

1st time posession rap, all charges dropped-late 70's (I was guilty)

2nd time unlawful concealed weapon, all charges dropped (and I now have a concealed permit, the peacable journey laws in Texas allowing you to have a gun in your car are a bit too vague to keep you out of a jail if a cop is pissed). late 90's

No friends, but plenty of relatives.
1. Uncle, never showed up for court dates for his many DUIs
2. Uncle, grew and sold pot
3. Uncle, not sure what he's been in jail for
4. Brother, spent a few nights in jail for fights, DUIs

i had a friend who went to jail, i don't know exactly from what, he refused to tell me the details, but from rumors, he held a gun to a girl's head while in probation, he was 17 at the time, came out when he is 19-20. I saw him as having potential too, potential to do better.

my boss told me a while ago he was fishing in rural Missouri (outside of Columbia, where the big state school is) and got a court date for fishing without a licsense, in some small-ass town in the middle of nowhere

So he goes, the only other person there was an older woman, to whom the judge said "now, this is the last time you get a warning, next time you drive drunk I'm going to have to do something about it." My boss figured he was off, then, and wasn't being entirely serious (i mean, come on, no fishing license?), but the Judge says to him "son, I'm gonna give you some time." and he did 26 hours in their little jail.
