Kneel before the true burger king, baby.

So I had a five hour layover in Los Angeles recently, and I ate at one of my best friend's precious "In N' Out" burger joints... not impressed against the might of Back Yard Burgers... I miss BYB so badly... Mushroom Swiss... oh sweet Bacon Chedder... and Miz Grazi... I miss you so much... *sob* and seasoned chili cheese fries... *waaahhhh haaaa haaaaaa* I miss you BYB... so much...

Just find a friggin mom-and-pop burger joint. Make sure it doesn't use an electric grill of some sort, though.

not too impressed with In-n-out? Congratulations, you are the only person i know of that's not too impressed with in-n-out. I know vegetarians that eat meat when it comes to in-n-out

Alright, so that's "kind" of an exaggeration... In N' Out makes a kickass burger, to be certain... but BYB's burgers are just... all like Russell Crowe in Gladiator... they just crush all opposition...

Backyard Burgers is has the best fast food burgers I've ever eaten (to be fair I've never had "In N Out" though)...
The one with the feta on it is the $hit...they are all really darn good.

Oh, and I went to in-n-out while in ca, and other than watching the guy make the fries, it didn't impress me.

We have one of those here in town I've never tried it...whats the best thing to get I may hit it tommorrow?

[In Strong Bad voice]

Ah my peoples come out to save my thread!

bthory, I'm always been fond of the Bacon Chedder combo with seasoned fries, but there's tons of good stuff there.

cheeseburger, as rare as they are allowed to let you have it (which is medium well, but I always tell them "as rare as you'll let me have it" just on the off chance they might pull it off the grill a couple seconds early for me ;)

Never tried the sirloin tips.

baked potatoes are remarkably good, but I don't think thats the reason for going to a place called "steak-out"

Free iced tea if you pick up your order.

Post back after trying it with your opinion.

They're good, but they're way, way too salty. I mean, Jesus, how much salt do you have to put on a burger?

Those that bad mouth BYB as "just another burger joint", etc. clearly haven't eaten a Backyard Burger. There is a difference.

Oh crap, now I'm hungry :(

Good for you, but that doesn't mean much when you are from California. I think In & Out gets so much attention purely because of the large % of west-coasters on this forum. I guess I can't blame any of you, since you grew up with In N Out, but until you have tried a wide range of fast food burgers, I don't think you can claim it as the best, but say what you want.

I grew up near a BYB though, and can vouch for its goodness.
