Have you ever dropped a College course?

I am taking the last class in my Master's degree and I am thinking of dropping it for fall semester. I have taken several classes from this professor. Out all of my classes I have taken, I find him most engaging and I have learned the most from him.

The problem is that the first week?s class was moved to a Monday night at the last minute and I only found out that I missed the class the following morning. I went to this week?s class and even turned in the assignment due.

Next week?s scheduled class has been canceled.

Dropped about 5 in my lifetime, however I was active duty army at the time, and duty came before school, so I had good reasons. I have never dropped a class for academic reasons or just because I missed a few classes.

It depends. If missing one day automatically means a substantial penalty to your grade, say more than 5%, then it's something to consider. Otherwise, just do the best you can.

I drop the class tomorrow with out being charged for the class. I think that if I pay for 14 weeks of a class that I should get 14 weeks of class time. I am not one that skips classes and in my undergraduate degree I missed only 2 class due to sickness.

The professor is the one that called off the class next week.

wow is missing one class at the college level really that big of a deal?

And yeah, I noticed when I attend classes my grades usually stay up high ;)

This isn't your average college class, and for that matter it's not even a college class. It is a graduate class, and those typically meet for a few hours a week...just like seminars at the undergraduate level, only more intense.

You're a strange guy if you're going to drop a class taught by your favorite professor because one class session got cancelled. Especially if it will push back your graduation date.

You really need to explain why missing it is such a serious issue as to consider dropping it and graduating later.

By the time I was a 3rd year undergrad I figured out a good strategy is to sign up for seven or eight classes, attend them all the first week or two, and drop three or four. So, yeah, I dropped about two dozen by the time I was done. None so far as a graduate student, though, 'cause all my classes have been great.

I never dropped any classes becuase they show up on transcripts as a W. I deleted a few after going to the first class but before they were permanently on my schedule.

First day of class... I believe it was Social Work 101... nothing to do with my major, I was handed a 40 something page sylabus, I briefly flipped through it, and then walked out... directly to the registrars office... Bowling 101 was a much more educational choice...

Yes, I had to drop my Honors Calc 1 class my first year at the community college I started at. I somehow tested into it without ever being exposed to Trig. Id totally bomb any question that had anything to do with trig and I struggled through it until the last possibly drop day. Next semester I took PreCalc and then Calc the following semester. Calculus is so much easier when you have the prereques :p

Other than that I dont think I dropped anything.

I almost dropped a class in some advanced signals and wavelets class. I struggled through and barely passed. Just couldn't compete as an undergrad against post docs and phd students. :(

edit: plus I had senioritis and other classes :|
