but not remembered actually driving from point A to point B because your mind was elsewhere? It happens to me all the time on long trips.

had that happen to me once when i drove home late at night i dont remember about 50 miles of my 150 mile trip.
Was so scary when I came back to reality while driving, going how the hell did I get here?

Yeah, it's especially bad if the weather's crappy or something and I have to really concentrate on driving. Something about levels of stimuli affecting memory retention IIRC.

Yea the reason is, you are driving from point a to b, but you know the route so well that your mind does not "need" to think about it.

I learned about this in psych a little bit ago.

i do it all the time...driving to okc and back i dont even think about it...its pretty much autopilot the whole way...
