In the past I've dreamed that I had gotten blazed, and then when I woke up, BAM! stone cold sober. Kinda a letdown
It's interesting to contemplate how the brain could do that, but it's not totally out of line, since I was already familiar with the sensation.
Anyway, last night, I dreamt that someone maliciously slipped an OD of a psychoactive (the presumption was a hallucinogenic, though in the dream I overheard someone saying that it contained methamphetamine[IRL, I have done neither])in my drink, and I couldn't handle it, and became mentally ill, even after the drug itself had worn off. I somehow knew that I was messed up and that my perception of reality was completely skewed; I was aware that there was supposed to be a "baseline" reality, but while I could comprehend the existence of this reality, I was unable to perceive the nature of it, almost as if reality were a separate spatial dimension.
Eventually, my family showed up and did an intervention and had me sent to a psych ward.
