Have you ever considered running for public office?

Any public office. City counsel member, state legislator, mayor of a town/city, etc. After watching our federal legislators spend money like its water, ex-Governor Napolitano put photoradar cameras all over Phoenix, our new Governor Jan Brewer take her oath of office with her left hand raised, and all the media fawning over President Obama despite him having minimal experience, etc, etc, etc; I'm starting to think that I could do a better job than most of them.

Trouble is, I'm not a liar and I have no reservations telling people they're full of shit.

What about you? Ever think about it?

Think about it? Yes, I guess. I don't know where to start though, so, it's kind of difficult.

Thats my problem. Where do you go to learn about running for a public office? Qualifications for more prominent positions are available, like legislators and such.

It crossed my mind, but I don't have anywhere near the requisite social skills.

Your county auditor should have information on running for office. You shouldn't spend a dime of your own money, though, maybe aside from some very minor fees and whatnot in the beginning, because if you do then that means you don't know what you're doing.

Based on the pearls I have cast in these here forums, I find it highly unlikely that I would be electable. Voters don't want or appreciate wisdom.

I have run for office and I have been elected. I served a term as county constable and I currently am in my third term as a county political party chairman.

Only every other day when I hear them talk. But I would die within a month of taking office. It would be too much for my blood pressure.

I thought about it every day until I started to post in these damned forums.

Now I can never do it. I have posted far too much racist, pedofilic, hateful trash on these forums. My opponent would have a field day with some of the stuff I post here.

With that said. I'd like to say death to Israel and the Middle East and Black people except for the hot cute little kids.

Fuck no...and you can't MAKE me do it...

I've had occasion to meet lots of politicians in my life...from city councilmen to the former Lt. Governor of Kahleeforneeya.

IMO, not one was as honest as a politician SHOULD be...each and every one had his own agenda...and had "friends" who seemed to get special privileges.

My morals may be questionable...but my ethics rarely are.

If I were ever in a position of power, my armies would lay waste to all of creation. This planet would burn.

Honestly, I'd love the opportunity to introduce ideas that could potentially help people. Unfortunately, my pedigree isn't really conducive to public office and I'm sure the political process would destroy me.

It takes a certain kind of person to really have a desire for public office, and unfortunately I think that has little to do with a desire to actually help. There are more direct ways to help others, imo.

I've thought of it, but politics is not really my thing, and I don't know enough about how the whole system works or the major happenings. I would not want to have a community in my hands if I'm not qualified for the job, even if I knew I had a good chance of getting in.

I think you have to be like 18 to run for prime minister or president, so technically I *could* qualify. Now, whether or not I could build up a fame for people to vote for me I doubt it. You pretty much have to start low then move up, or just become an actor then you can go straight to governor. :p

My dad was in the city counsel, so maybe it's in me and I don't know it. :D

I was the campaign manager for a 3rd term State Representative. I'd be happy to answer any questions people have about the more local campaigns.
