Have you ever completely panicked about a job and your future?

Have a job upcoming in October 2006 (after I finish my masters) and I'm panicked. I enjoy what I'm studying but I'm not sure I want to do what I'll be doing. I have other things I want to do and places I want to go (cf: the "What do you want to do during your life" thread) and I'm scared of getting bogged down or leaving after only a few months.

Suppose the fact that I'm sick and the fact that the NW is bleak as hell right now doesn't help.

Oy. 🙁

I'm kind of in a similar situation. I've got a decent job right now at a web developing studio(i'm a college student btw) and I have a friend that makes pretty good cash and he wants me to leave my job and work with him in his financial business he's doing and rack in the big bucks and move to sweden for a couple of months next summer. Pretty nuts.

Q: Have you ever completely panicked about a job and your future?

A: Yes, but it involved an unlit parking lot at a seedy truckstop and angry man named Earle in the back of a big rig...

I have had that feeling as well. During my first week of teaching, I felt overwhelmed and wasn't sure it was really what I wanted to do. I realized that it was because I was just nervous about whether or not I would do a good job. I soon got over it. Now I love it and know that it's what I want to do. Any big decision in life probably causes the same kind of uncertainties. 😀

No, never. You're probably the first one to get this feeling...I suggest completely rethinking the rest of your life, as it seems you're totally not on the path for a good future. Sucks to be you.

Help me, Lordmaul, you're my only hope!

That's a big part of it, I know. I also realize that I'm stressed from school and sick and probably undergoing a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder. I'm sure that in a few days I'll feel a lot better.

Thanks. 🙂

Awesome. I loved my third grade teacher:thumbsup:. I'm planning on teaching English when I get out of college.
I hope my kiddos feel that way about me when they get older.

I'm probably the only teacher they will have that has a red swingline. 😀

Yes, I would be panicking too if I didn't know my past, present, and future tense. 😉

You can't be helped, sorry. You must help yourself. I suggest cleaning out the local bookstore of every single self-help book they offer...surely that will do something.
