Have you ever changed an email address that you have used as your main one for a long time due to the amount of spam you receive?

I've had my current email for years and the spam is becoming almost unbearable... I haven't read my email for a couple days and I have over 500 unread messages (this is AFTER my spam filter, ihatespam, has already done it's thing) and probably 80% of the messages are spam.

I feel like doing it, but just hate having to change/notify everyone of my new address. All the forums I go to, my domain name info, billing websites, etc.... arghhhh Feels like changing a living address.

Sure, my main e-mail used to be a hotmail account, now that one is used just for signing up for free stuff online...

Ditto!

My hotmail account is also my oldest email account (although, my first first one was my @cati.csufresno.edu one :D -- it was "free" and was accessible via telnet :D)

Remember when hotmail was NOT a Microsoft product? :D HoTMaiL used to r0x.

Yes. I got real excited when I got my g-mail account. But I haven't used it in months. So I went back to my hotmail account.

not really. My hotmail filters is set to exclusive, so only people in my address book gets through, but i still get maybe a max of 5 emails/week of spam in hotmail. My yahoo account is a different story though. If i don't check that for up to a month, i can have more than 200 emails in the bulk folder.

Yahoo is better because i don't think it counts anything outside personal folders and the inbox (i.e.: whatever is in the recycle bin and bulk mail folder is not counted)

I just did. I had to change five e-mail addresses due to the heavy volume of spam I started to receive.

Yes, when I went from DSL to cable. I sent one email to everyone in my contact list, and that was that. I'm about to do it again because DSL has caught cable here, and I can save $15 bucks a month.
