Have you ever bought car with a credit card?

I bought my Acura on my debit card... I guess that doesn't really count though 😛 No credit cards for me yet though.. they are evil.

credit card is evil or you are an idiot? I can't tell you how useful credit card is...😕

I thought most dealers wouldn't allow that because if you disputed the payment they would be out a pretty big chunk of change.

I put $5k on my Discover card for my Mustang a few years ago. I needed to float it until I sold my Jeep later that month.

Same thing back in 98. Easier to put money on the CC than to get the dealer to take a check.

I thought they didn't like to because of the service fee that they'd have to pay to the CC company. Around 3% on a 25K vehicle cuts into profits quite somewhat. My in-laws always try to buy their vehicles with CC but the most that they usually get to do is a few K. And they are not likely to dispute the payment, you'd have to have a good reason for Visa to reverse the charge, not because you just say so.

The first one I went to insisted that it be a cash advance off the CC... the 2nd dealer had no problem taking the CC and basically laughed at the first one. I guess that's one of the differences between medium sized and very large dealerships.

No thought was even asked when I did it. Maybe they did not wish to lose the sale. They knew that I was not a local. Ended up over the next 4 years, getting 3 other vehicles from them.

My neighbor bought a BMW for his kid with a credit card, and used the frequent flyer miles for a trip to Hawaii or something. Also pays for kid's college tuition on the credit card.
