I'm in the middle of putting together a new AMD system (with new Abit KT7-RAID) and new Mushkin memory and was wondering if anyone here has had experiences with a bad CPU that never worked.
Can someone help me out and tell me what happens when ONLY the CPU was not functional? (eg. normal power up without any monitor activity vs. not powering up at all etc.)
I've been having trouble powering on my computer (going to replace the power supply today), but sometimes it does turn on---when it does turn on, all the hard drives and fans are "on" but the monitor never turns on. (all connections are intact). My current power supply also has been recently "sputtering out" (sounds like someone farting through my speakers) after powering down--can someone explain this? Power supply dying? Anyway, i'm going to replace the power supply today and try again.
Thanks, any help appreciated.
