I've been one. It was shortly the communists fell from power so it must've been in 1991. Of course, being only 7 y.o. at the time, I had no idea what was really going on. All I remember is me, my sister and my grandma walking downtown with LOTS of people in the streets waving blue flags and shouting "demokratsia".

Yes, I have been to many. But I was standing behind a plexiglass shield with a helmet on.

After I saw on TV what happened during the Democratic Convention in Chicago and what happened at Kent State I felt that it was best to avoid them at all cost. On top of that today it seems like a social event for those self styled anarchists who made such a mockery out of peacefull protest during some of the recent Economic summits.

Maybe I should have made it more drawn out so it didn't sound as sincere as people took it.

I meant it in the same fashion as if somebody came up to me and asked me how much money I have stolen from my work lately. Just a joke about the common steretypes of working under a certain situation.

No offense was intended :)

i walked through many protests at berkeley. i'd wave at the cameras and smile or bump into those people making propaganda tapes. the best is trying to walk through those paper signs and tearing them up. ah the joys of protesting a protest. I must say, some of those anti-war peace activists are very hostile, or maybe they were marxists or anarchists.

Last year the NRA had a huge one in town, had Heston. There were a bunch of protesters there, my partner and I decided to join them. Though, we were protesting about closing your refrigerator door all the way, had signs and everything. Took them about twenty minutes to figure out what we were doing, mostly because all the news people and the NRA were laughing all over the place....

I was at one on Veterans' Day last year, just after 9/11. The Socialists had come out to defile the military, and a small group of Libertarians, Democrats and Republicans came out to protest the protest. It was nice seeing people supporting the members of the military and we had a lot of people stop to support us, we even had a good time talking with the police who were providing security for the Socialists. From the mouth of one of the officers: "I think your group could take these morons." :)

To Dudd and anyone else wondering, this was in Bulgaria, here is a small pic of what it looked like.

By accident i ended up in one a couple years ago in Peru. it was election here between a guy named Fujimori who was the incumbant prez, and another guy, can't remember his name though. Whatever the case, we were in the plaza and a group of about 10,000 ppl came marching through in support of the other guy. Apparently Fujimori had been raping the country dry, and no one liked him, yet he kept winning elections. I think he'd been in power for about 15 years. Thus he won again shortly after we left. Then about a year ago he fled the country and lives in Japan in exile. It was exciting.

No, I was never taken to an protests as a kid and am too selfish to go there now. Plus, I disagree with everything the protesters have to say so I can't protest.

I challenge you to find one time on this board where I have ever called someone a leftist hippie asshole because they go to protests.

went to one today. i heard the police count (usually VERY conservative) was 150,000 people. all i know is it was wall to wall humanity. i've never seen so many people at once.

edit: link to yahoo news story

I took the BART train in from the East Bay and our 10 car train was completely filled before we even made it to Oakland (where the stations had even more people waiting to get on than the other stations). All seats and all standing space was filled. Pretty nuts.

the ";)" indicated the joke. But I did put your name down because I remembered when you called me and Czar (and a few other people) liberals one time.

But don't worry, I don't harbour any ill feeling towards you or anyone else whom disagree with. :) Except LordMaul of course!
