Nope. Not allowed to work where I do with any convictions of any sort.

I did spent 3 hours in a holding cell when I was 16. Nothing came of it though.

Nope, never. There was one time that I could have went to jail though. I was supposed to be with some friends one evening, but I hung out with my gf instead. It turns out they ended up going to jail that night.

Lucky me.

i havent been in jail, but ive been thinking it wouldnt be so bad. think about it. you have peace of mind. you can take in a book or two and read them. you can do heaps of pushups every day and get fit. you get free (well you work for it) food. and theres heaps of time to just sit back, relax and think.

i say this because i feel life is getting really too fast, we (at least me) aren't enjoying the simple things much anymore. its all instant gratification like sex, entertainment (i.e. violence), junk food. i wouldnt mind getting away from this and just spend time collecting my thoughts and clearing my mind up.

My dad took me to the county jail when i was about 5. I remember looking down the walkway and seeing all these hands hanging out of the cells. It was also very noisy and in my mind it was as if those guys in jail were trying to reach out and grab someone (i.e., me). Scared the crap out of me!

No. But I was brought in for questioning on some house break-ins once because someone called in and reported my license plate when I was going door to door trying to sell some raffle tickets in high school. l

I remember being in a jail, or a psych-ward, when I was younger on some type of field trip.
The whole class was walking with the teacher, and a few guards, looking in each cell, and one of prisoners jumped out of the darkness towards the bars, and was screaming and barking at one of the little girls. She started screaming and crying. He scared the piss out of her.
I can imagine he got a beating from the guards.

I think your forgetting about the rapes, murders, gangs, and well Bubba ;) There wouldnt be much time to "sit back, relax and think." but hey, if you'd like to experience that, more power to ya.

About 6 hours overnight for getting busted with some weed, paraphernalia, along with a few Dixie cups/potting soil in my dorm room. That was my freshman year back around 1991. I wound up being charged with a felony and two misdemeanors. After my mom hired one of the best lawyers around, charges were dropped and the only punishment was stuffing envelopes in the Chancellor's office for two week.

But it still sucked having to spend a night in jail. The worst part by far was using the pay phone to call my mom at 4am to break the news. The first thing she heard when she answered the phone was "Collect call from Mecklenburg County jail, do you wish you accept charges?" All I heard on the other end was her starting to cry. I'll never forget that and haven't been in trouble with the law since.

Jail and prison are two different things entirely.
When you're in jail, your fate is generally undecided and you're waiting on the court to make a decision that severely affects your life in a good or bad way. Lots of stress, and everyone around you feels the same way. Not a good place to be.
Prison is sitting around waiting for a determined amount of time until you get released. No true stress, but the lack of freedom to do what you want when you want is overwhelming.

I've been to juvenile detention a few times to work on our school system workstations but that is about the closest I have been.

Felony and two misdemeanors for that?!?! How did they pull that off?

Misdemeanor 1: simple possession
Misdemeanor 2: possession of drug paraphernalia
Felony: manufacturing a controlled substance with intent to sell

The last one was BS. I was just fooling around and thought it may be fun to see if I could get a couple plants to grow for my own personal use. They found a shoebox that had 6 Dixie cups of soil in them that were no less than 6 months old. I had forgotten they were even in there. But because of that and the bag of soil, they try to charge me with the felony I listed above. I remember being in court that day and the officers walked in with this huge box of crap they found in the room. They never even got to present it before the judge dropped all charges.
