Have you ever been hypnotised? UPDATE

I'm going to see a hypnotist comedy show on Wednesday. I've seen a few before, one at Magic Mountain and another at the Ice House (Comedy Club). Both were hillarious. At these shows they ask anyone who wants to be hypnotised to come up on stage. I was wondering if anyone here has done that. Or been hypnotised in general. I think on Wednesday I'm going to go on stage and see what happens. The show is at the Brea Improv. If anyone is thinking of going I have a 2-for-1 coupon. I guarantee you'll laugh your ass off.

Update:

Well, last night I went to the show and volunteered. Unfortunately it didn't work. I went on stage along with about 12 other people. It didn't work on about 3 of us. I felt it almost working. It's hard to explain. My body temperature felt like it was rising, and I felt like I was unable to move my hands. And for being in front of 100-200 people I was surprisingly calm. I really wanted it to happen, but oh well. I'm not usually a very trusting person, so maybe thats why it didn't work. Oh well.

Wow! That sounds like fun. I would love to go but it's kind of far for me on a weekday. Where did you get the 2 for 1 Coupon???

I never have, but I'd like to just to see what it's like. Not in a comedic setting, though...with a therapist who could uncover the demons of my subconscious. :p

I signed up for the newsletter and they sent it to me. You should try to make it if you can.

Yes. You don't feel that much different than you would in a normal state. Just more willing to go along with things, I guess.

I never had it done to me but I had some friends that had it done. They said they don't really remember some things they did/said but other things they do remember. And also what another guy told me is that you won't do anything that is totally against your personality beliefs and if they try to make you do it, you will snap out of it. I personally don't think I can be hypnotized though.

That's between me and that particular dominatrix. No, I'm not kidding. :p

I never went totally "under" myself, not totally the way I've seen others be affected. Attribute it to their weaker will or my particular dislike of losing control, whatever. The point is hypnotism definitely isn't a myth.

Wow! that's so freaking weird that people can be hypnotised. So is there a certain point in which you will just snap out of it? Or is it like in the movies where if the hypnotizer doesn't get a chance to snap you out you stay hypnotised? hehehe.

You have peaked my interest. I'm definitely going to volunteer on Wednesday just to see how it is.

In my semi-hypnotic state, I wouldn't have done anything I normally wouldn't do. I was just interested enough in where it was leading to break out of it. I can't imagine why some people are convinced to act like chickens and what-not. Feeble-minded fools! :p
