Have you ever accidentally thrown something of value away?

I accidentally dumped my Palm Zire 71 in the dumpster outside. Fortunately I realized it just a couple minutes later and found it quickly.

I didn't exactly "throw it away"
but once I got a winning bottle cap from Pepsi when they were
giving away iTunes for free, and my dog happened to eat it.

You don't really want to know how I "retrieved" it

Oh yeah, tossed three sets of GOLD MEDAL ROUND Olympic tickets (Equestrian, basketball and wrestling) out with the trash. Had to go to downtown Atlanta to find someone scalping women's basketball elimination round tickets.Sure did suck!

Peace

My hearing aid, once or twice. Fortunately I (or one of my parents - this happened quite a few years ago) thought to look in the trash can *before* we set it out for the garbage company to take.

My dad does this every once in a while, with various things. I believe his theory is "If it's not mine, and I don't know what it is, it's crap. And since it's crap, it goes in the garbage." He's gotten better about it over the years though.

Now, if I was deaf, would I really *need* a hearing aid? 😛

My hearing is only partially gone: I'm completely deaf in one ear, but I can still hear some from the other - not much from high frequencies, but I can hear human voices and lower-frequency sounds pretty well, both with and without the aid. And throwing it away wasn't intentional; I would just take it out and set it on the counter or the bathroom sink, and it would get knocked into the trashcan.

relatives threw away a very rare native american blanket. an antique dealer saw it in a family photo and told them it was easily worth maybe over 10 grand. it was not recovered.
