1. That law only applies to Florida residents who make purchases from outside of Florida and it has been effect for a long time (not that anyone follows it). The FL Department of Revenue can, and does, check on sales of high-ticket items from out-of-state companies.

2. Michigan has the same type of law that applies to residents of Michigan.

As broke as most states are, someone there is going to figure out that this is a potential source for a lot of tax dollars thay they're missing out on. It won't take long after that for them to get records from big online retailers saying who bought what from them and send you a tax bill.

NY did it with the cigarette companies that were online and shut down.
