Have you been on a cruise ?

We're going on a 7-day Princess Cruise to the Western Carribean aboard the Grand Princess starting Sunday. Just wondering what the essentials to bring are since I've never been on a cruise ship. THere will be 2 formal dinner nights so a suit is already on the checklist. What about theatrical shows and other venues on the ship? What do we wear for that, etc. I also hear you can rollerblade on the deck?! Can we show up to regular dinner nights in shorts and a t-shirt or do we need casual dress clothes ?

Why don't you call your travel agent, or, even better, the cruise line?

No offense, but I prefer to ask stupid, uneducated questions on ATOT 🙂

I went on the Carnival Victory, very similar to the Princess. I think you'll enjoy it. Since you're going on the western carribean, you'll love the atmosphere of Mexico (cozumel) at night and the bars and stuff. Don't venture too far off though. ....Next you'll probably be heading to the Grand Cayman islands.... nothing really to see here, more upscale compared to mexico which is a dump. If you want to see anything in grand cayman, hit up 7 mile beach for sure, otherwise go on the swimming with the stingray tour. Next you might hit up Jamaica. Jamaica is BEATIFUL beyond your wildest dreams. However, the people there don't give a sh|t about anyone coming to visit and the poverty is horrible. Things to do? Go to the waterfall or go jet skiing in the harbor, always fun. Also , don't spend too much time @ the casino, i lost 500 bucks in blackjack the first day and was broke the rest of the trip. Always hit up the disco / club at night that's real fun when you're wasted. Hope you have fun, and btw, when you're going by Cuba on the way back, it's kinda earie cause you can see it.

oh i almost forgot.... the best thing is at night when you go out on deck and look at the total blackness of the night... and the wind coming at you, it's amazing

anyways, have fun. 🙂

Hey thanx for the great info. You're right about the locations except Jamaica. Instead of there, it'll be Majuhal. I can't wait to enjoy just the ship's atmosphere actually... which is what the post is really based on. I know it's not the same ship, but I'd appreciate some info on whatever you got if you don't mind. 🙂

Been on a Princess cruise to Alaska before. For regular nights, you can walk in with shorts and t-shirts with no problem. On their formal nights, some people get really dressed up but suits are fine. For everything else, it's really casual. Have fun and be sure to eat a lot.
