Have you been bitten by the Graphics Whore bug?

Well, since I bought my X1900 XTX and got used to playing CS:Source at max settings and 1920x1200, and later refunded it so I could get my mits on two 7900 GT's for SLI, I had to go back to using my 6800 GT and 6800 Ultra Go in the meantime (awaiting delivery).

But I was just not happy with high'ish settings at 40ish fps. I really noticed a big difference in speed during multiplayer bouts and in single player games between 30/40/50fps with dips and a constant 80+fps that I got with the XTX. I suddenly went crap in CS:S because I couldnt cope with the slowed down pace, and to get that high speed gameplay again I had to drop the settings, and I just couldnt agree with the lesser detail. I needed more :p
I'm finding it hard to go back to anything but the best quality and smoothest play.

Anyone else in the same boat?

2x 7800GT
2x X1800XT
1x 6800GT
1x Radeon 9600 (plain)
1x GeForce 3 Ti-500
1x GeForce Go 7800GTX
1x Intel GMA 900 (ugh)

I got to be honest here. I haven't played any game in over a week and have no desire to.
Interesting. I may have outgrown gaming? That would be so awesome as I would save a ton of money on video cards. :Q

I think it's safe to say yes.. I might be 30 years old now, but after a break of 2-3 years I bought my 9700pro at its launch and since then I'm again well bitten.. :p
Definately SLI days are over for me though after the legendary Voodo times

the idea being you sell the card before it becomes dirt cheap and add some money to it and buy a new card =)

I just went back and replayed Starcraft and Broodwars...I love good graphics, high resolutions and great frame rates as much as the next gamer but I don't need the best all the time. I usually stick to an upgrade cycle and not rush to get the next big thing out there. So no, I don't think I'm bitten by the graphics bug. Although when I do upgrade, I usually choose the best or one of the best out there so it can last me a while.

I've been bitten hard, I actually have owned COD2, Quake 4, AOE3 and so on for a few months now, but only played through the first few levels because I only wanted to play them through at max settings and near highest reoslutions at smooth framerates.
For single player games I dont mind so much, but multiplayer, I must have the smoothest frame rate.

hmmm let me see..I have to think back a long time

Currently using AGP 6800GT

9700PRO
9500
8500le
GF3 TI 200
GF2 GTS
VOODOO 5
GF2 MX
TNT2 M64
VOODOO 3
VOODOO 2 SLI
S3 Virge 4mb
Trident TVGA 9440
S3 805 VLB + creative VLB 3D BLASTER
Trident TVGA 9000C ISA 512KB

Hmmm thats what I can remember from the upgrades I've done since 1992 way back in my 386 days on my primary system.
I have owned plenty of others, my current stash includes 9000PRO 64MB and 128MB, 2X GF4MX440, 3X GF2MX, GF2 TI, 9600XT,SAVAGE 4 8mb and 16mb, trident blade 3d 8mb, rage 3d 8mb, rage 128 pro 32mb.

I still own all of the cards in the top list bar the last 3...they have been sold a long time ago...probably before most ATer's where born

funny thing is since my GF2 MX days I still play all of my games a 1024x768x32 without any AA/AF

Lets see:
Geforce 2Ti
Radeon 9500 pro (9500 and 9600 at same time)
Radeon 9600 XT
9800XT
7800GT's in SLI

Do I have it yes, can I get a new video card now, no. Have no money and seeing as I'm only 16 it really doesn't matter and I'm happy with my 7800's. I only game at 1280x1024.
