Have we passed bottom of memory price cycle?

I've not read anything in the industry or channel press, but are DRAM prices rising again? Perhaps it's just the effect of the very generous Corsair rebates mostly expiring, but I've noticed that 2 GB and 4 GB sets of Corsair, the popular G.Skill 'PQ', etc, have all risen a few dollars or more this week.

The Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 I bought a month ago for $29 AR on Newegg is now $67 AR?!

Wait... it's just dropped to $34 AR? Mmm, still a $5 rise in a few days.

Anyone read any reports of where we might be in the memory price cycle? Don't get me wrong, PC2 6400 memory is still ridiculously cheap compared to last year... Just wondering if I should get 4 GB sooner rather than later.

Prices have been pretty stable for months now on the DDR2 front.

I actually expected them to have risen more by now, but it's nice to see not yet.

I do expect prices to be much higher by the end of this year, but you may have another couple months before they get much higher...i don't think anyone really knows except the RAM industry themselves.

Hmm, that's strange. A few months ago, I bought 2x2 GB of G.Skill PQ PC6400 for $95, and was sure that it wouln't go any lower. Now it's $75, and just yesterday, I ordered 4GB of their PQ PC8000 for $89. Are you sure they're on the rise?

Admittedly I only follow a few brands of memory, and some memory is very cheap this week (Crucial Ballistix 2 GB for $19 after rebate at Fry's... though some say this particular memory SKU is rubbish). But the G.Skill 'PQ' DDR2 800 memory I've been thinking of getting (4 GB) has gone from $76 to 80 to 85 in a few days on Newegg. Nearly ten bucks, ouch. Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 has risen a few bucks too.

Certainly we're still well under a few months ago, but I'm wondering if I should have made more purchases last month.
