The western world is a liberal utopia compared to much of the rest, and we are exporting our values.

This did not happen in a vacuum. Competing ideologies rose against the west from without and within throughout history, many of which were rooted in the same evolution of thought on governance, but with different conclusions reached and implemented differently.

There was a lot of blood shed to make the west what it is, if we fail to guard it thousands of years of evolution in philosophy of governance will come to an end.

We indirectly influence everything, including war. Our personal desires and ambitions indirectly have consequences. The lying and cheating society produce lying and cheating politicians. They come from that same lying and cheating society, don't they?

It is not that we are a lying/cheating society.

It is that it takes an effort to prevent others from doing so and the present general attitude is not to get involved. They expect that someone else will intercept and solve the problems.

That allows the politicians and business leaders to take the lead without fearing the consequences.

We're always looking to find faults in others rather than looking for them in ourselves. This is how humans operate. Always blaming others for everything. If everyone stopped blaming others and finding wrongdoings in others and rather focus on your own self, I doubt the world would be what it is.

In that kind of society, we wouldn't need such a large government and the politicians would be great people rather than the crooks we have now.

Somewhat.

But even if 99.9% of people were absolute angels projecting nothing but pure goodness from their hearts... there's a percentage of high-functioning psychopaths that would enslave and kill as many as they could. And the more passive and naive the rest of society would be to this, the better.

Ok, but right now, .001 of the population are absolute angels. We shouldn't wait for others to try to change ourselves. But we humans are always looking outside of our self for a problem.

Stop worrying about others unless it is an imminent physical danger at that moment. This sort of approach will be perceived by the vast majority as being extremely naive and even idiotic.

Full scale war for survival? Wtf? From whom? There's no military on earth that would even get a single soldier on US soil.

When was the last time the US was fighting for its survival? 150 years ago? Even WW2 wasn't about survival.

On top of that the US is part of NATO. So if for example China tried to take on the US (a joke in itself) not only would they need to contend with a totally dominant US navy, but they'd need to get passed some pretty potent European navies as well. They'd barely get out of Asia.

You are right, and that is why nuclear is an option against the United States, cyber terrorism, biological weapons,,,, something that does a lot of damage without troops.

During peak summer months we have rolling blackouts in some places across the US. Take out a few power plants and we would go back to the 1800s.

War is different now. War is about spending money and using technology to summon the grim reaper. Terrorists flying planes into skyscrapers or spent nuclear fuel pools. Some terrorists real, others government patsies. And its a war of disinfo. No one can know the truth, no one can be trusted. Who actually does the killing doesnt matter that much anymore. The real killers will never get their hands dirty.
