turns out i have been paying dmv surcharges for the past three years (at $250 a pop) for a ticket that was amended to a violation that does not warrant surcharges. does that sentence make sense? anyway, i was on the phone with the nj dmv surcharges department and they transferred me over to suspensions & restorations. after 30 mins on hold, a lady picked up the phone. while i stumble to pick up the phone and take her off speakerphone, i accidentally hung up on her. god damn i was pissed off. as i was ready to redial, i got an incoming call and it was that lady i hung up on. i was quite surprised. anyway, i spoke with her and it turns out i have been paying $250 a year in dmv surcharges, but i really wasn't supposed to. so after three years and $750 in surcharges (plus $200 for the restoration fees for the two times my license got suspended for non-payment of surcharges), she tells me to go into a regional dmv and talk to the head clerk, file some paperwork, and get my money back. so dmv is gonna give me back close to a grand?! sounds too good to be true.... hmm.....
