So I went to dual monitor (FTW, btw). Same model, same everything (Dell 2007fp). My original is only about a year old but the newer one is much brighter. Makes my original look dark and washed out. I even adjusted the brightness to 100% on the original.

Is my original just wearing out that quickly? Or did I get different panels even though I went with the same manufacturer and model?

Looking for input, thx.

Perhaps it's the backlight wearing out. But I doubt it'd take that much of a dive only after a year. Like the others have said, one of them might be an S-IPS panel while the other is a P-MVA. Does one of the monitors exhibit a purple/reddish tint to the picture when you look at it from an extreme angle from the side? That would be an S-IPS.

*Tries that with own Dell E207WFP*

Damn! I think I have a TN, then. :(

I still have yet to see the differences between S-IPS and TN in person, so for now, I will stay in a state of ignorant bliss. :)

i think its just the panel lottery. i have noticed that lcd backlights tend to fade over time but 1 year shouldnt be very noticeable.

Thanks for the input. They are both plugged into a dual DVI card. I tried looking at them from extreme angles and didn't see any difference. I can pretty much be looking at them both like a flat table and they appear the same - still see the picture without a problem.

I don't have a service tag from dell (didn't buy with a dell system - heck didn't even buy direct from dell) so I'm probably SOL.
