Ok, here's the deal. I have to upgrade my box now, I sold my p3 600e @150 fsb on a abit be6-2 mb to my old man. Im limping on a p3-450@558 on an asus p3v4x now that is ordinarily my secondary system. I've decided to try a AMD chip again. I was way impressed with amd way back in the 486 days, the k5, and k6 chips were simply awesome in their day, and the k6-233 was an absolute triumph, but amd lost my confidence with the pathetic performance of the k6-2 line of chips.. i jumped ship about the time of the 300a to 450 overclock, and have bought intel ever since.(lol, and I upgrade a LOT... prob over 2 doz procs since the first 386/16 I had.)

Here's what I've come up with.

Asus A7v kt133 m/b
Thunderbird 1 ghz cpu
going to go ahead and order 2 256 megs stalks of sdram since its so cheap... yes I use Win2k.
I think I'm going to try a 64meg radeon vivo. (I have been running Nvidia cards since the TNT, all the way to my present geforce1 ddr 32 megger, which I'm going to transfer to secondary system, replacing a Viper 550 tnt.)

Any comments?
I would love to be able to wait for the new ddr boards, or even for kt133a to become available, but.. then again, it might be just as wise to let a second generation of these new boards to come out...

Well, I need to upgrade as well (photoshop and games - p3-450/viper2 doesn't cut it anymore)

Here's my "plan":

1.0 ghz Tbird (133/266)
MSI K7 Turbo KT133a
256mb pc 133 (cas2) (from Anand forums for $119 shipped)
Geforce 2 GTS 32mb (bought from Anand forums for $142 shipped)

I'm just waiting for the new Tbirds I guess..but it's hard to wait!!

But I think it's worth to go with the 266mhz Tbirds + Kt133a + SDRAM, but you said you can't wait so...
sounds like a nice upgrade, can't go wrong with what you plan on buying! :D
