Yea,

Maybe someone out there has had this same problem. For the past two days, I have come home to find my "always on" PC turned off, and when I push the PWR switch on the case, nothing happens. I then proceed to check all of the connections, and I find that everything is connected as it should be. Then I unplug the case from the wall, and plug it back in, only to find that the PC will still not turn on. After I have tried all of these things, I unplug the PS connector from the MOBO and then reconnect it. Once the connector is reconnected, and I push the PWR switch on the case, away we go! It runs just fine after this, with seemingly no difficulities. What is the deal here?

Some possibly useful specs:

Gigabyte ATX MOBO
K6-2 @ 550MHz, not overclocked
Confused user

This machine was constructed from new parts back in July, and, up until the past few days, has not given me any trouble at all. Any help that you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

My friend's brand new p4 1.9 system was doing the same thing, except it wouldnt last as long as yours without turning off. Anyway, after much testing we determined it to be the PSU - it did the same thing in my PC when I put his PSU in my system. In my system it lasted several hours without turning off but still did after a while.

Hope this helps

I had a similar problem where the machine would not turn off on its own, but once you turned it off, it would not power up again until I pulled the PS connector off the mobo and put it back on. I did a bios flash with the same bios revision and it solved the problem.

Cheaper than running out and buying a PS.

Well its worth trying the PSU in another system... if it fails in another system then I dont think a bios flash is gonna do it.
