OK, Every morning I have to start the computer and then shut it down, not reset, but shut it down by pressing the stop button for about 5-6 seconds before it will start.

The hard drive light just stays on until I do this. I really don't know what to do to figure out what the prob is. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Larry

I was able to fix this exact problem by removing fans that were running off the mobo headers. Aparently the bios was sensing that the fan rpms were too low/high and pausing.

If you can't solve the problem, it's probably a defective board. What I mean to say is, if you set everything back to running at default in the bios, and it still does it, it's a bad board. I had an ABIT BH6 do this a long, long time ago.

Well, I set the voltage up AND changed to a different fan header.

Let the system off for a couple of hours and it booted first time!

Will turn it off and try again tomorrow to see if it really worked.

Thanks Folks!

Hi:

I got this problem either for a long time.

And tried many ways to get rid of it. Please refer to earlier discussion.

Finally I did it in this way:

Totally clean the CPU surface, then REMARK the L1 .

Now everything's OK. Never fail to boot.

Good Luck.

Well, Still have the problem. Will retry the ol' pencil trick, but maybe with something more permanent. I think I will wait 'til my new HSF arrives, then fix this.

Thanks all!

Larry

I was having a similar problem, but it was related to Advanced Power Management. Probably conflicts between the settings in the BIOS and Win98SE. (I'm not o/c-ing)
