Have there been any mech/giant robot games since MechWarrior 4?

Well, years ago, I really loved MechWarrior 3 and 4, especially because of the Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro I used for those games. However, I haven't really payed attention to PC games enough in the timespan from the release of those games to the present day, so I don't know what I may have missed.

Have any other mech/giant robot games been released since the days of MechWarrior? Any worth mentioning? Any more modern ones?

Thanks.

Shogo:MAD (Mobile armor division) is a great, if a dated game that should still run on modern hardware.. its part FPS & part giant robot, but worth playing for sure if you never have.

I think it was released about the same time as as Mechwarrior 3 and before 4 though.

Unfortunately, no. There are nothing like Mech 3/4. Even Mech 4 was a step away from the previous "sim-style-mech-combat" towards a more "action-style-mech-combat" game. And after that, M$ bought the rights and created Mech Assault for the Xbox. Since then there has not been a pure mech game like that ont he PC. I really hope that we will see such a game soon though. But I doubt it, since this genre now seems to be soley in the hands of the console market.

Shogo was great. But it is old. Would love to see an sequel to that game too.

Doesnt Battlefield in space (BF2142) have mechs?

Yes, but I'm not buying a game with in-game ads. I played the demo and didn't really like it, anyway.

I found a demo of Shogo and played some of that. It's definitely an antique in the FPS genre (the default controls had movement on the arrow keys!). I like the sound effects - they're very Gundam-esque. But other than that, it's seems to have become too primitive of an FPS.

Steel Battalion, only a hundred clams at GameStop! Down from original price of TWO hundred!

I don't have an Xbox. But anyway, how many copies of that game were made and sold? It couldn't have been too profitable for Capcom. 😕

Lost Planet, ChromeHounds, BF2142, and the future Starsiege all have mechs. Chromehounds is the only one that comes close, but it's an Xbox360 game. Explosions are absolutely beautiful, but the mechs feel slow to me.

I don't know about this "future" Starsiege game, but I don't have a 360, so that's that.

Man, seeing the box art for Supreme Commander looks promising, but then I see it's an RTS 🙁

if you haven't, get the MW4 Merc expansion, and the new mektek (sic?) packs....there is still a HUGE online following for MW4. Mercs and the Mektek added lots of new weapons and mechs too.

I would really love to see a new mech game for the PC (will not buy a console), one that uses physics, updated graphics, etc. And retains the action-simulator style of Mechwarrior 2 & 3.

makes me wonder if sierra is making a new one, sarsiege:2845....interesting.

edit: from looking at the pictures, thats definitly a very newer game than the last starsiege that i've played.

I was in the alpha. Sierra isn't making it, clancore is. So far I'm not terribly impressed. Earthsiege > Starsiege anyway.

Virtua-On 2 and Custom Robo for those fast-paced shoot as much crap as possible into the other direction type game.
